Turns out, the hellhound knew just where he was going. The dog led me to a small town, and I emerge from the underbrush of the woods on top of a hill overlooking it... Welcome to Warchester. I smile. I made it.
I snapped a photo for Castiel.
The city of Warchester is relatively small. A winding, country road will take me further into town.
I stumble down the hill, trying and failing to regain my balance. The rising sun sits delicately against the horizon, the first slivers of light peeking out slowly behind the darkness.
My feet are still hurting, but it's a small price to pay. I simply need somewhere to sleep for a few hours... I need food in my stomach. This country road was surrounded by woods, and I tried to think of the distance between the road and the town, but couldn't remember. I have crossed a long distance.
Eventually, the winding road split in two different directions, and the hellhound paused before leading us down the left road. It was another ten minutes before the car passed us on the road. Another fifteen minutes passed before a diner came into view.
I knelt down to pet my German Shepard, "wait for me, King. I'll grab you a treat inside." And without another word, King trots off happily, vanishing into the morning fog as though he were never here in the first place. I stare after him for a few seconds before heading into the diner.
I know how I must have looked, dirty and a little scratched up, and the hostess even took a second glance at me. "One?" She asks.
I nod slowly, and follow her to a small booth with lumpy, red leather seats. It almost groans as I sit down on it. "What can I get you to drink?" The hostess asks. She looks tired, older despite her young features and green eyes. Her name tag reads: DAISY.
"Coffee please."
"Decaf or regular?"
"Regular,"
"Cream or sugar?"
"Just get me my fucking coffee and I'll do it myself," I didn't look at her, but I saw her scowl. I wouldn't put it past her to spit in it.
A waitress brings me my coffee, and I smile at the new girl, REBECCA, with her bright eyes and short graying hair. "What can I get for you this morning, hon?" I detect a southern accent laced with her words.
I only did a quick scan of the menu, but my stomach growled and what I really wanted was the rich fruits from the underworld. Nostalgia overtook me as the smell of eggs wafts towards me. "Can I get a country style omelette, with wheat bread, back on and home fries please?"
"Someone is hungry this morning," Rebecca notes and smiles, "it'll be right up for you, hon." She offers me a weak smile, and moves behind the counter to offer my order to the cooks.
I hadn't realized how hungry I'd been until I took my first bite of my omelette. I smothered the homefries in ketchup, and ate my bread with strawberry jelly. Just how I liked it, the bacon was crispy and fresh and deliciously greasy. I ate and ate and ate, clearing everything on my plate and asked for a slice of chocolate pie for dessert.
The pie was filled with Oreos.
I was still hungry, on my third cup of coffee. I ordered a plain hamburger to take home in a small box. Rebecca obliged, appearing slightly worn out. When she approaches my table again with the box, seeing that I cleared my plate, she puts the check down and asks, "how was everything?"
