Chapter 5
Jaymes POV
I blinked a couple of times to gain focus on reality.
Theo was still asleep so that must mean it was before five.
I got up and walked to the bathroom, taking my toothbrush with me.
I washed my face and brushed my teeth.
I got dressed into a pair of baggy jeans, a plain white top and trainers all from the bag Theo had got me.
I walked onto the balcony. The sun was just rising. Theo would be up soon.
I stood there for a while watching the sun rise.
“Hey, weird sleeper!” Theo said, as he walked onto the balcony, “You want breakfast? I’m about to order room service!”
“Okay. Get me anything, as long as it’s not fast food!” I said, laughing.
I felt better when he walked back inside. I had started to feel uncomfortable. There were loads of stories about romance on balconies. I wasn’t ready for a relationship. Especially not with Theo.
I walked inside just before room service came up. Theo had got us weetabix, Random. I sat on the bed, the smell of the weetabix welcoming; at least it was better than fast food.
I ate slowly. I was still pretty tired. Theo was right, I was a weird sleeper.
“When do you want to go?” Theo asked, breaking the silence.
“As soon as were ready.”
When I finished, I put my laptop away and swung my backpack, which now also held my new clothes from Theo, onto my back.
I watched Theo as he did the same. His guitar hung over his shoulder.
We stood in silence as the elevator went slowly down to the lobby.
I waited by the door while Theo checked us out of the hotel.
We walked down the street slowly. It was sweltering. I wasn’t going to make it another mile, let alone wherever we were going.
It wasn’t long before we were out of town and into the country side.
For the first time since I met him, I had only just acknowledged what Theo was wearing. He was wearing a green and blue button up T-shirt, faded jeans and blue trainers.
I could feel myself staring at him, but thankfully he didn’t notice.
“Wow, it’s hot today!” Theo said. He took his shirt off and my legs turned to jelly.
“Whoa! Theo, You have a six pack!?”
He laughed, “How’d you think I got the car back on the road? Magic?” he said, smirking.
Theo had a point, but I still wasn’t expecting that. It took me a few seconds to make sure my legs were functioning properly, I didn’t dare walk just in case.
“Come on Jaymes, you actually need to walk if you’re going to get anywhere.” He could be so annoying sometimes.
I reluctantly began to walk forward dreading the next few miles, or however far we were going.
I was going to collapse soon. I wasn’t sure how long we’d been walking but I couldn’t see the car anymore. It was too quiet here, I was thinking too much. Theo was walking next to me, looking straight ahead, he hadn’t so much as looked at me for what seemed like forever. I didn’t see the rock that tripped me, I could have tripped over thin air. I hit my head and came crashing down on the road, déjà vu washed over me. But this time, it wasn’t someone in a shiny red Ferrari, it was Theo. And to be really honest, I think I preferred Theo.
