The lights flashed on over head and I had to close my eyes for a second before they could adjust to the bright light.

I heard an alarm somewhere off in the distance, but I didn't pay attention to it. I knelt down next to Ralph. He had died saving my life. His death was my fault.

"Ally." David tried to get my attention. "Ally, we need to go."

Ginny looked at me and I noticed tears streaming down her face. "He's right we need to go." She stood up and started pulling me away from Ralph.

"NO! WE CAN'T JUST LEAVE HIM." I screamed.

"Ally there is nothing we can do for him!" Ginny yelled back brokenhearted and it was then, looking into her eyes, that I truly realized how close She and Ralph had been. "We have to take the opportunity he has given us."

I leaned down and grabbed Ralph's hand one last time and said the only words I could think of. "Thank you."

I stood back up and followed David and Ginny. Now that I wasn't in shock, I could hear how loud the alarm was and as we walked I started to hear the sound of people running towards us.

"David, do you hear that?" I saw him nod.

"I think it's time we see what that does." He said as he pointed to the vial I still had clenched in my hand.

"Which one of us should take it?" Ginny asked looking around.

"I should take it." I replied then explained my reasoning, "You both are close to getting your powers. We don't know if this potion will hurt you or just give you guys two different powers. But I lost my powers already. It's safer to let me take it."

David didn't look happy about it but he agreed, as did Ginny. I put the vial to my lips, took a deep breath then drank.

It tasted awful. I am not sure what I expected but the bitter and sour flavor of the potion almost caused me to throw it back up.

I choked it down and waited. The sounds of the people behind us were growing louder by the second. I wasn't sure how I was suppose to know if I had powers or not, but I waited hoping I would get some kind of sign.

"I think we need to start running." David said and took off at a fast jog.

When I went to follow him the world seemed to slow down and I flew past them running faster than I ever thought possible. I tried to skid to a stop gracefully, but I lost my footing and landed on my butt. I hopped up smiling.

David and Ginny were looking at me in awe and I called back to them. "Make sure you stay ahead of the Takers. I am going to find the way out and I will come back for you."
