Since we would be the cover story for the following issue, Jamie and I had agreed to do an official engagement photo shoot to go along with the interview. We met with a photographer and stylists in the city before driving away from civilization to get some private shots in the wilderness. The crew had wardrobe racks for both of us, and we picked out a few different outfits to change into. I'd chosen a couple of stunning dresses, a skirt covered in small flowers, and some satin blouses. Jamie had stuck with dress shirts and ties, black slacks, dark jeans, and a long sleeve gray top. We rode with an entire ensemble of people and for the first time since we'd been together, I felt like a celebrity too.

Jamie kept me close the entire time, not allowing anyone to overwhelm me with the sudden spotlight and the sheer number of people it took to pull off a magazine shoot. But ultimately it was my idea, and his hovering only assured me he'd never let his Hollywood surroundings come between our happiness.

It ended up being a beautiful day filled with laughter and romantic poses. Overall, we were extremely pleased with the previews the photographer showed us. Now we were sitting beside each other on an oversized leather sofa across from a beautiful middle-aged woman named Margaret, with a recorder on the armrest of her chair, and a notebook and pen on her lap. She was the lucky one assigned to interview us. Jamie's publicist and even our therapist promised she was the most experienced and respectful journalist at People Magazine.

"Shall we begin?" she asked.

I tightly squeezed Jamie's hand as a million butterflies took up shelter in my stomach. He sweetly caressed my knuckles with his thumb to calm my nerves. I looked up into his loving gaze as he nodded on our behalf.

"Okay, great. I'll run through the questions you both agreed on, and if you change your mind on a subject, we'll scratch it. Relax and be yourselves, I'm here to shine a positive light on your relationship. Talk to me like an old friend, this is a judgment free zone."

For whatever reason her words helped calm my racing mind and I loosened my grip on his hand, wrapping my free arm around his bicep and crossing my leg toward him. She instantly took note of my stance, writing herself a memo, and I realized then she must've done a thousand couples interviews to be so receptive of our body language.

"First thing's first, everyone will want to know about the proposal. Any details you want included?"

Jamie cleared his throat, as it was a question he could answer best. "I asked her parents' permission when we visited her hometown last summer, months in advance. They're such lovely people, and amazing secret keepers. They didn't hesitate in handing her over."

We both laughed at him before he went on.

"I found the perfect ring not long after, but I kept trying to find the perfect moment to ask. I thought, 'do I do it in front of her family and friends, or my family and friends, or a bunch of strangers?' Then it dawned on me that it would only be perfect if it were just the two of us. So I organized a private room at this beautiful restaurant overlooking the sea in Belfast, where I'm from. I had them set up a path of rose petals from the French doors to a candlelit table. It was truly remarkable the lengths they went to to ensure my vision was met. I wanted her to be blown away."
