Without Aidan there, the flat felt like a ghost town. She didn't know why, but Amber felt depressed. The pile of dishes in the sink became larger, as did the stack of novels next to the sofa. She could barely be bothered to move at any given time. Her mind was always filled with thoughts of him, but she didn't know if they were good or bad.
Subconsciously, she found herself digging through a little shoebox she had taken with her when her ex had kicked her out. Grabbing a few DVD's, she put the first one into the DVD player, and sank down onto the sofa as the first episode of Being Human began to play. Seeing his perfect face, hearing his perfect voice, everything came back to her. She had fallen in love with this man before he knew she existed. Now that he could have been hers, was she pushing him away? Maybe.
"It's because of the last relationship," Amber thought, trying to make sense of it all. But then she remembered Aidan standing up for her. Every sign pointed to the fact that he was perfect, but she just couldn't accept it. Her past had taught her too much.
