Aidan eventually sat down, Amber in his lap, rocking her slowly and strongly. After she was only sniffling and her tears were mostly gone, he finally spoke again. "I didn't mean for this to happen. You know I didn't," he said. Amber only responded with a whimper. "I know you. And I know you didn't want this. For your sake, I didn't either. I promised you no strings attached, and I'm sorry. We were foolish and drunk." Both were silent for a moment, before Amber finally spoke. "Aidan..."she said quietly, "I did want it to happen. But I didn't want it right now. I need to figure things out. Please, can we, can we pretend it didn't happen?" Aidan smiled slightly. "Sure. Of course. It didn't happen." He kissed the top of her head and squeezed her a little. As they both sat in silence, they knew that they couldn't fool themselves into believing it. For one night they had been together, and they would never forget it.
