Chapter 28

Katniss PoV :
2 weeks since we attacked the capital 2 weeks since the man I love got hurt , 2 weeks and 1 day that's how long we have been in the forest today is the day we have to get moving back to district 12 "Peeta " yes Katniss ""we need to start moving slowly back to district 12 I don't mind how many times we have to stop for you to rest but we need to get you back safely so someone can have a look at your leg ""ok should we leave now ""no wait till it gets dark "
Many hours later
"Peeta are you ready don't forget if you need to stop tell me "I say and kiss his cheek
He stands up I put his arm over my shoulder to help him walk and we slowly walk through the forest
"Shit "Peeta says "are you ok"I ask worriedly "yes I just stumbled do you mind if we stop for abit" he asks
I sit him down on the floor and make a small fire to keep us warm enough but not enough so that you can see the smoke from miles away and raise suspicion "Peeta you can sleep if you like I'll take first watch " "okay wake me when you get tired " "okay "
The next day
I help Peeta stand up and put his arm back over my shoulder to help him I can tell his leg hurts I know I'm strong enough to lift him but I think I'll wait for a while to see if it gets worse
We have already been walking 6 ours and Peeta's pain has got worse so I take his arm of from around my shoulder and pick him up "you don't need to carry me Katniss ""yes I do your in pain" no I'm not in that much pain""Peeta I can tell when your lying also your a terrible lier" he chuckles slightly to himself "don't worry no one needs to know I carried you"I say smirking he laughs "but that would ruin the story when I tell everyone about how much of a hero you are" he says and I smile
6 days later
I have carried Peeta for 5 hours everyday luckily for him he only has to walk for 2 hours then we stop to rest
I look ahead and I can see the base I look up to Peeta how is on my back only a few more miles then we are back I carry Peeta to the entrance at first everyone thought we where enemies then Sargent Boggs run to the door and let's us in
"Katniss , Peeta your alive everyone thought you were dead what happened " he says
I look at Peeta and he look at me and nods "I got shot in the leg so Katniss helped me climb down the tree and found shelter in a cave she made a small fire to keep us warm then she broke the metal of her arrow and used it to remove the bullet from my leg she ripped her shirt and wrapped it around my leg to stop it getting infected she hunted everyday so we didn't starve and then we started to walk back here I stumbled and made my leg slightly worse so she has carried me for the last 5 days without her I would have bled to death in the tree she could have left me there but instead she risked he life and saved me and for that i am most grateful " Peeta says and smiles at me
"Wow you are a true hero Katniss "Sargent Boggs says to me and shakes me hand .
