You and Leo were driving down a highway towards your apartment. You were coming back from a vacation in Las Vegas.
People warned you both about driving home during the night, but you were doing it anyway.
You were both driving in silence, the only sound being the rocks under the tires.
Leo cleared his throat and said, "Well, that vacation was fun." You awkwardly laughed and said, "Yeah."
More silence. "I wonder why they told us not to drive at NIGGH-" You and Leo swerved to avoid hitting an animal crossing the road.
You both almost hit another car. Leo struggled to get the car to stay straight but after a few minutes, he succeeded.
You both were breathing heavily, still processing what happened.
"Are you okay?" You nodded and let out a shaky breathe.
"What was that animal?" Leo shrugged and said, "Looked like a coyote or something."
"Maybe that was why we shouldn't be driving right now..." Leo nodded and grabbed your hand. You looked down and opened your mouth to speak but closed it.
As you drove farther, Leo's grip tightened on your hand.
"Are you okay?" Leo looked at you and gave you a soft smile. "Yeah, I just don't wan to get into an accident."
You nodded, understanding what he was scared of. Leo suddenly muttered, "I don't want you to get hurt.."
You were going to reply when you both suddenly heard the screeching of tires. Leo's grip suddenly became really tight and you squeezed his hand back.
You saw a Jeep swerve to avoid hitting a coyote. It was coming right towards you guys. This what it.
Leo knew that it was the end, also. He let go of your hand and turned your head. He leaned in and kissed you. You kissed him back and pulled him close. You suddenly felt the impact. Both cars went flying off the highway and into the dirt.
You and Leo were severely hurt. You couched and saw Leo beside you. You smelled smoke and registered what was happening.
The cars were on fire.
You felt Leo grab your hand. You squeezed his hand and he squeezed it back.
You closed your eyes, and imagined the image of your fingers interlaced together.
Then you saw darkness.
