Leo Valdez x Reader (Oneshots)

Puppy Love

You worked at your local pet shelter. Or, dog shelter, if you wanna be specific. 

You loved playing and taking care of the dogs, and seeing them go home with great owners. The pay you got wasn't so bad, as well.

So, it was sort of your "dream" job, for now.

You also enjoyed seeing people come in, and see their eyes light up when they spot the perfect dog.

This was your part time job, and you were in high school. School wasn't really stressful, if you don't count Leo Valdez.

He was your best friend, and crush.

And he always liked to tease you about your crush. He knew you liked someone but he didn't know who. So, it would stress you out and make you all flustered.

So, when you would go to work and see all of the playful puppies, you'd release all of the stress.

And, here's the thing, Leo didn't know that you worked there. You didn't tell him so that you could be alone with the puppies.

But one day, luck was against you.

You were feeding all of the dogs and puppies, when the door's bell rang.

Since it was your usual routine, you cheerfully said, "Welcome! Please tell me if you need any help finding the perfect dog!"

You suddenly heard a familiar voice ask, "Y/n?"

Your face paled and you turned. It was Leo. He smiled and said, "I didn't know you worked here!" You tried to fight the blush and said, "Y-yeah.."

You walked towards you and said, "Well, you can help me find a dog."

You internally groaned and set the bag of dog food down. "Alright." Leo's smile grew and he walked off to a random room.

You followed him into the room, and almost squealed at what you saw.

Leo was on the floor, literally almost completely covered in puppies. The puppies continued to lick his face and just play with him.

And Leo would just laugh and play with all of them.

Your blush rapidly grew as you watched. You awkwardly coughed and asked, "F-find any puppies?"

Leo looked at you and grinned. "Yeah, found lots of them." You rolled your eyes. You also loved it when Leo would be a smart ass.

Leo stood up and looked down at the continuous wave of puppies at his feet.

"Let's keep looking." You nodded and ran next to him. "Right." As you both walked into the next room, you felt Leo's hand brush yours.

You quickly pulled your hand up and pretended to cough.

You looked at Leo from the corner of your eye, and saw that he was grinning at you. You blushed and put your hand back down.

You walked into the next room, which was where the big dogs were.

Leo snorted and said, "These dogs are almost as tall as I am." You nodded and said, "You can go and play with them, if you want.."

Instantly, a huge husky ran over to Leo and jumped onto him. Leo laughed and played with her. You smiled and said, "Her name is Dakota." 

Leo sat up and Dakota sat in front of him, sort of "smiling" at him. He pet her and said, "I think she's the one."

You nodded and said, "Let's take her to my office." You then put Leo through the whole process of adopting Dakota. After about 30 minutes, you and Leo walked to the front door.

You bent down and hugged Dakota. She licked your cheek lovingly.

You smiled and said, "Dakota was actually my favorite, here." Leo raised his eyebrows slightly and asked, "Really?"

You nodded.

"Don't worry. You'll love her. She's really playful."

Leo nodded and suddenly blushed. You saw his grip on the leash tighten a little. He looked at Dakota and said, "Say, since you're going to miss Dakota..."

He looked at you and smiled.

"Maybe you can come over to my house and hang out with us sometime?" You blushed and said, "O-oh um..."

Even though you were best friends, you had never been over to his house before.

Leo blushed even more and continued. "And, you coming over could be a.. date or something..." Your blush became a deep red.

"Y-yeah, that be cool.."

Leo smiled and kissed your cheek. "Okay, it's a date then.." You smiled back and nodded. "See you then.." 

Leo then left with Dakota.

You had gone to his house the very next day.

You hung out with Leo and Dakota. You and Leo both continuously blushed and tried to become more comfortable with your meeting being your first date.

And you thought it went well.

Because you and Leo ended the date on a good note. How, you ask?

You and Leo were watching a movie, and you were tired. So, you rested your head on Leo's shoulder and fell asleep. Leo smiled and wrapped an arm around your shoulder. He then rested his head on yours and started to fall asleep.

Dakota jumped onto Leo's lap and lay there.

Leo smiled, again, and rested a hand on Dakota's soft fur, then drifted off to sleep.

The three of you, asleep on each other, made you looked like a family. People wouldn't call the feelings you and Leo shared regular old love. No.

It was puppy love.
