Protecting Your Daughter

A/N

Anyone else excited for Suicide Squad? 

You and Leo had gotten married and moved to Texas, since Leo was born there.

You both lived in an apartment, and had a daughter. Her name was Esperanza, named after Leo's mother.

Everything was going perfectly. You and Leo had a good paying job, Esperanza had a good education, and no monsters ever attacked you.

That is, until one night.

You walked Esperanza to her bedroom and tucked her in. You smiled and said, "Goodnight."

Esperanza smiled back and said, "Goodnight, mommy." You kissed her forehead and walked out, closing the door behind you.

You walked into the kitchen, where Leo was washing dishes.

You went next to him and leaned on the counter. "You didn't say goodnight to Esperanza."

Leo just sighed and said, "I'll say goodnight after this." You nodded, kissed his cheek, and sat on a stool.

After a few minutes, you saw Leo dry his hands then walk to Esperanza's room.

You watched as he peeked in from the doorway, said goodnight, and softly shut the door. You smiled and walked over to Leo.

"Was she asleep?"

Leo wrapped an arm around your waist and said, "Almost."

You both then walked to the couch and cuddled. As you laid on Leo, you mumbled, "Can we just sleep here?"

Leo smiled and kissed your cheek.

"Sure." So, Leo grabbed a blanket, lay down with you, snuggled up to you, and fell asleep.

~A Few Hours Later~

It was near 1:00 in the morning, and you and Leo were literally tangled.

You suddenly heard a noise, but you just quietly groaned and snuggled closer to Leo. You heard another noise, and you opened your eyes.

You looked at the kitchen and muttered, "Esperanza, is that you?"

No reply. You sat up and felt Leo's arms slightly tighten around you waist. "What are you doing..?" You touched Leo's arm and said, "I'm gonna check on Esperanza."

Leo replied with a grunt and you stood up.

You slowly walked to Esperanza's room, listening for any noises. You suddenly heard someone fall over in her room.

You pulled out a dagger you had been hiding in your clothes, in case something happened.

You tightened your grip on it and opened the door. It was pitch black. You whispered, "Esperanza?" Suddenly, the door closed behind you. You heard it lock, and you quickly turned.

You flipped the light switch but it didn't work.

Suddenly, you heard something fall over beside you, and you grabbed a random toy and threw it.

The toy hit something and you grabbed a flashlight. You shined it on the intruder and almost screamed.

It was an empousa, with your daughter in her hands.

You gripped the dagger and said, "Let go of my daughter." The empousa just grinned at you and said, "Make me."

You threw another toy and the empousa dodged. She opened the window and held your daughter over the edge.

You froze. You and Leo lived on the fifth floor.

The empousa smirked and said, "Don't make me drop your daughter, y/n." You pointed your dagger at the empousa and said, "Not my daughter, you bitch."

(Anybody know where I got that quote from?)

The empousa just smirked and pulled your daughter back inside. "Set her down, so we can actually fight."

She set your daughter down in her bed and showed her claws.

"Let's do this, y/n."

She lunged at you, and you dodged. You swung your dagger and cut the empousa.

She fell and groaned in pain. But she quickly flew back up and glared at you. "Is that all you got?" She then startled you, by lunging at you and punching you in the stomach.

You fell to the ground, and groaned in pain.

The empousa walked over to you and smirked.

"And here I thought you'd be a challenge." She grabbed the dagger from your hand, and pointed it at you. 

"Looks like you're worthless after all."

Suddenly, something pushed the empousa over, making her crash into Esperanza's dresser.

It was Leo.

He looked at you, and angry expression on his face. He looked back at the empousa and said, "You woke me up from my sleep."

Leo set his hands on fire and ran towards the empousa, while saying, "Plus, you threatened to hurt my wife and daughter." But, as Leo was about to kill the empousa, she lifted her legs and kicked in in the stomach.

He flew into Esperanza's closet.

You suddenly heard Esperanza mutter, "What's happening?" You ran to her bed and said, "Esperanza, go back to sleep-"

The empousa grabbed you and you punched her in the face.

She then dropped your dagger, and you picked it up. Leo walked next to you, and you both ran at the empousa, ready to make her pay for what she wanted to do to Esperanza.

Then, the empousa exploded into a pile of dust.

You and Leo stood, looking at the pile and panting. You looked over at Esperanza, and saw that she had fallen back asleep.

You looked at Leo and said, "Thank you, for helping me."

Leo nodded and wrapped an arm around your waist. "I thought that something was wrong.." You both then leaned in and shared a loving kiss.

You both muttered, "I love you," and hugged each other closer.

You then separated and rested your head on Leo's shoulder. You both looked at Esperanza, and silently vowed to always protect her.
