Little Feet

Chapter 21

My heart stopped. I started to cry.

"Sweetie what's wrong?" my dad asked.

"Nick and Kasey they got in an accident" I told him crying.

He drove home and told me to get a few outfits and we would go to Tampa. I cried even harder while I called Jessie.

"Hello?" she asked, she sounded like she's been crying.

"Jessie, I'm coming, I'll be there soon" I said crying.

"Oh baby, be safe" she said and hung up.

Dad and I left mom a note not like she would care anyway, then made our way to Tampa. After two hours we pulled into the hospital parking lot and I walked as fast as I could. When we walked in Jessie and Jason were standing with Nick and Kasey's mom and step dad. 

Jessie ran to me as soon as she saw me and wiped tears away.  "I missed you sweetheart"

"How are they?"

"Maybe you should sit down" Jason suggested.  I nodded and Jessie sat next to me.  Mason was on the other side of me crying. 

"Nick is going to be okay,  a broken arm and a concussion but that's it.  He should be out soon" Jessie smiled. 

"And Kasey?"

"Well she was on the side the car hit.  She is in surgery right now"

"What happened?"

"A car ran a red light and hit the passenger door.  Her leg was jammed and she hit her head hard. A piece of the car went into her side, hopefully not puncturing anything but they don't know for sure"

I nodded and cried. Nick has to stay the night in case his head gets worse but he's aloud to see visitors. His parents, Jessie, Jason, and I all went to go see him. He had a cast on his arm and he was laying on the bed.

When we walked in he sat up and smiled. "Taylor" he breathed.

"Hey" I smiled. I walked over to him and he gave me the tightest hug he could. I hugged him back and he let go too soon.

"How are you?" I asked.

"I've had better days but seeing you made my day so much better" he smirked.

"Okay kids. How's my boy doing?" his mom asked and they talked for awhile. Baby boy was kicking a lot and I had to sit down. I fell asleep after a while until Jessie woke me up to go to her house and sleep. I followed her and my dad to the car and we went to Jessie's.

When I walked in Hailey and Jake were making out on the couch. "Jesus Christ stay off of her" Jessie said angrily and Jake backed off.

"Why is she here" Hailey said.

"Because this is my house and she has my grand baby and I love her" Jessie said.

"Whatever" Hailey said and walked upstairs. You could tell she was pregnant but she didn't act like she was. She still acted like a hoe.

I grabbed some water and went to my old room. It looked exactly the same and I was so grateful. I layed in the bed and fell asleep almost instantly.

When I woke up I went downstairs to see my dad and Jessie talking at the counter.

"She just won't stop putting her down. And Taylor acts like it doesn't affect her but I know she hates herself for disappointing her mom."

"Well have you talked to Lisa about it?"

"I try but she is still refusing to give Taylor any slack. I mean I'm upset my 16 year old got pregnant but she is mature enough and sure she'll need help but she's handling it well"

"You know, you two could move back here"

"I don't know if I'm ready to divorce her Jess"

"She can come too but I really think Taylor needs to be here. I saw the way she looked when she saw Nick and how much she missed him. And the terror in her eyes when we told her about Kasey. Plus Jason and I miss her"

"I'll think about it Jessie, but I don't know if we can afford it"

"We can help. Stay at the pool house until you can get on your feet"

"We can't do that"

"Do what?" I interrupted even though I know exactly what they were talking about.

"Uhm nothing sweetie. Are you ready to go see Kasey?" Jessie asked smiling.

"Yeah sure" I said putting on my shoes and wobbling outside. Baby boy is a little active today and it's right on my bladder.

We drove to the hospital and met up with Kelly and Jim. Nick was doing paperwork to get out when we came in. He stood up and hugged me. Jessie was right I missed this. When he let go, I sat down because my back and lower abdomen was in pain.

"So when can we see Kasey?" Jessie asked Kelly and Jim.

"The doctor is in there right now but when he comes out we can go in" Kelly said. She went to go turn the go-home papers in for Nick and Jim talked with Nick's doctors.

"I missed you" Nick whispered in my ear. I blushed and smiled. He rubbed my lower back and I leaned my head on him.

Kelly came back in and we were allowed to go see Kasey.

"Kasey is still in a hard recovery. Nothing was punctured in her side but she did lose alot of blood. Her leg is in a cast but she will be out of that in a few months if all goes well and then her head will be in some pain so no loud noises or anything like that. She will have to stay for another night so we can make sure her blood is producing fast enough and she did have a transfusion during surgery."

"But she will be okay?" Nick asked.

"Yes she will be okay" I let out a breathe I didn't know I was holding. Kelly and the doctor talked for a few more minutes and then we were allowed to go inside.

She was on her phone when we walked in and when she saw me her face lightened up.

"Taylor I missed you!" she yelled. I went towards and she squeezed the life out of me.

"For a girl that just had surgery you're still strong" I laughed.

"Oh shut up. How my baby doing?" she asked rubbing my belly.

"He's doing good. My lower back and my pelvis area are in pain but other than that he's good" I laughed. I sat on the bed with her and we all talked until visiting hours were over.
