Little Feet

Chapter 9

It's been a week or so since me and Jake had sex and began dating. Today Jake,  Nick, and Mason have football practice so me and Kasey are going to the beach.  Jason said I could use Masons car since he never does.

"Are you ready?" I asked Kasey walking into her room.

"Yeah just grabbing lotion" she said as she put it in her bag. She slipped her flip flops. "Let's go"

We drove the hour long trip to the beach. We blared the radio the whole ride and sang as loud as we could. We let the wind blow our hair. When we arrived I parked the car and locked it then we walked down to the beach.

We late dour towels out and applied a little sunscreen. I layed on my stomach first while Kasey layed on her back. We listened to music and talked about anything possible.

"So how are you and Mason?" I asked and she started blushing.

"We're great. We have so much fun together and he makes me so unbelievably happy. I just love being around him and being with him. Not that I don't love hanging out with other people to but with him it's so relaxing and I feel so safe. "

"You guys are adorable together. I'm happy you two are happy" I smiled.

"So since your parents aren't coming back till like mid October are you going to Tampa High?"

"I don't know actually. I assume since that's where all you guys go" I honestly didn't even start thinking about school.  I mean it's the beginning of July. 

"Good" she said happily.  "Hey!  Did you hear about the party next weekend?"

"What party?"

"I don't know who's but Nick knows them and he said that it's a big 4th of July party after the 4th of July and anyone thats in the surrounding high schools are invited"

"Well I'm sure if you go, I will too" I laughed.  We stayed at the beach for a little while longer before it started to get cloudy and decided it was best to just head home.

On our way home it started raining and it was getting so bad I could barely see the road.  We pulled into a Motel 6.

I called Jessie and Kasey called her mom. 

"Jessie? " I asked when someone answers the phone. 

"Hey sweetie,  are you guys okay?  I know it's bad."

"Yeah we're stopped at a Motel 6 right now about 10 minutes from the house so we will be home soon. I just didn't want you to worry and need to give our eyes a break" I laughed and she laughed too. 

"Okay sweetie be safe. We all love you" she said and hung up. Kelsey finished her call and we drove the rest of the way home.  Her mom told her not to drive the extra distance to her house and just stay at ours for the night but not with Mason,  which I laughed at.

I parked the car inside the garage and went inside.  Nick and Jake were on the couch with pizza.  Mason came in with a plate.

"Holy damn my girlfriend is beautiful" Mason said coming up to her and kissed her.  She blushed and hugged him. 

"Mason watch it,  that's my little sister" Nick said jokingly but we all know that he was serious even though Mason would never do anything to hurt Kasey. 

"Girls there is pizza in the kitchen" Jason said as he came in with a plate.  I nodded and we went to the kitchen.  After a few hours, Kelsey and I went to lay down in my bed. 

"What's going on between you and Jake?"

"What do you mean?"

"Oh come on, I saw the way he looked at you when you walked in, and whenever you left he followed a few minutes later and I heard you kiss in the bathroom before you came back in"

"Okay okay you caught me, we're dating, but you can't tell anyone. I don't know how Jessie and Jason will react."

"Oh my!  Finally jesus" she laughed.  Mason came in a told Kasey good night and then he went to bed. 

After a few hours of talking we decided we should head to sleep too. When we woke up the next morning we smelt pancakes.  We hopped out of bed and ran downstairs.

Jessie was making chocolate chip pancakes and she had a whole stack ready. We grabbed a plate and got our pancakes and sat at the table.  Jason and Kason were at the table playing candy land and eating their pancakes. 

Mason ran down and looked like he literally jumped out of bed.  "I smelled pancakes" he said as we laughed at him. 

"Good morning my beautiful amazing girlfriend" he said smiling. 

"Good morning bed head" she said laughing. 

"Hey boy don't be taking the line I say to your mother every morning" Jason laughed pointing his fork at him. 

"Sorry pops but I couldn't resist" he smirked.  Jessie laughed and yelled for Jace and Jake.  Nick came down and Jake right behind him. 

"Oh hey Nick" Kasey said.  He waved rubbing his eyes and grabbed a plate.  He sat next to Kason and Kason asked him to play. He surprisingly said yes. 

"Nick's a big sucker for Kason. He's the little brother he's always wanted" Jessie whispered to me as I put my plate away. "He'd never admit it but he would kill for Kason. And it hit him pretty hard when we found out about the bone marrow defiency."

"Wow. He looks like he is actually enjoying it"

"He is" Jake said putting his plate away.  "They will play Candy Land for hours if they could, trust me" he mumbled and walked upstairs.

I sat by Jace who was being weirdly quiet.  Usually he's up before me and today he had to be called. "What's up little dude" I asked ruffling his hair

"I don't feel good.  My body hurts Taylor" he said obviously weakly.  He started coughing and one of the time we started coughing up blood. 

"Don't  worry sweetie, it means the bone marrow transplant are working"

"How? Their making him sick"

"Yes.  But in the long run, his body is getting rid of all the gross stuff that makes him sick.  And the doctors said by the end of the month he should be a normal 10 year old boy" she said tearing up hugging Jace.

Honestly hearing that made me have Overwhelming happiness.  The month I've been here, has made me so attached to everyone and I miss my home but leaving here is going to be one of the hardest things I've ever done.
