Little Feet

Chapter 17

It's been two weeks since the party and Nick has only came over if Jake isn't here. I have a doctors appointment today and I'm really excited because I might be able to find out the gender.  We tried last time but the little pickle had it's legs closed. Kasey wanted to come with but I told her I wanted it a surprise at the baby shower, so Nick is coming with. 

When we got to the clinic the receptionist told me that my usual nurse is out sick today and I am having doctor Cassie instead. I nodded and waited.

"Taylor Fields" the doctor called. Nick and I stood up and walked towards her.

"hello I'm doctor Cassie and I'll be your nurse today, since Kaitlyn is sick"

"Sounds good" I said as we arrived to the room.  I sat on the chair as she asked me questions about the pregnancy and baby. 

"Have you felt the baby move much?"

"A little but not enough to show anyone" she nodded. 

"Are you still nauseous?"

"Not as much, maybe once a week"

"Okay you wanna see the baby?" I nodded and layed back.  I rolled up my shirt so it was just below my boobs and exposed my round baby bump. 

She put some gel on and moved it around. You heard the heartbeat right away and I released a breath I didn't know I was holding. My baby popped on the screen.

"Do you know the gender?"

"Not yet?"

"Would you like too?"

"Yes"

"Alright,  since the baby is in a weird position I'm gonna need you to push lightly on the left side of your body until it starts to open up a little more" I did as I was told and saw as little pickle moved on the screen.

"Congratulations mom and dad your having a baby boy"

"Really?" I said shocked.  I've always wanted a boy. 

"Yes I will go print some pictures for you" she said and walked out.

"Nick it's a boy" I said so happy tears were rolling down my cheeks.  He stood up and wiped them off.

"I know.  I'm so happy for you" he said and he hugged me.  Nick hugged with so much comfort that I never wanted to let go.

I felt what felt like a punch in my gut. "I think he's kicking Nick" I said happily. I took his hand and put it on my belly. It kicked a little and Nick got the biggest smile on his face. 

The nurse came back and handed us pictures.  "For mom and for dad"

"Oh he's not the father. Just a close friend" I laughed. 

"Oh my apologies" she said.  We told her it was okay and she left again. I got cleaned off and ready to go. We walked out holding the pictures and I got into the car.

"I can't wait to tell everyone"

"When is the baby shower?"

"Next Saturday"

"Can I come?"

"Sure"

We drove back home in a comfortable silence. I was beyond excited I was having a baby boy.  Nick and Mason and Jace would be able to teach him football and baseball and teach him how to treat a lady.  I was going through a notebook of names in my head and was lost on what I should name my baby boy.

"Nick?"

"Yes Taylor?"

"Thank you for coming today"
