I stayed up all night, with my arms over my face. I heard the ticking of my clock as each second passed. Mikan had gotten out of the infirmary a couple hours ago. The memory is as clear as water.

It was only two days ago, after all.

I was working my shift when it happened. Since I was Dracula, my part was to frighten people as they passed by. While I was at it, I heard people talking in the distance. I went to take a look when I saw that everyone was glancing down on someone. They were whispering a familiar name and it struck me still. I was too scared to approach the center of the crowd but I finally did and it turned out to be an unconscious Mikan. I took her to the Infirmary as fast as I could.

The nurse told me she hadn't eaten and slept in two weeks. I was so angry at myself for not realizing it sooner. Mikan was going through something big. Whatever it was, it prevented her from having her essential needs. She was incredibly dehydrated as it was and she needed to rest. Until today, she woke up completely refreshed and it seemed she had a nice dream.

Now that she's awake fully, I plan to confront her. I plan to tell her everything. About her grandpa and her uncle. I'd planned on telling her when she woke up, but the look on her face said she didn't want to talk about anything.

I twist the ring between my fingers and raise it above my face. The diamonds shine brightly and it causes me to cover my eyes. If only we could escape the world. If only we wouldn't go through sad things. Maybe that's whats happening with us. With Mikan and me.

It makes me jealous to see other people happy. How Ruka and Imai have a growing relationship even when we don't even know if they're dating at all. Even that annoying Koko has got Permy. Why can't Mikan and I, just be happy? We're safe from the E.S.P. He's gone and although there's still some evil organizations, we'll overcome it like always. 

Why is it that although we have the strength to move on, we don't have the courage to be happy?

Before it's too late, I have to fix our relationship.

I jump off my bed and put on a black hoodie, then I head out the door. Her dorm is a couple doors down, and I'm there in a matter of seconds. I hesitate to knock, but I do after a couple of slow breaths.

"Natsume..." She mumbles as she opens the door. Her eyes look a little baggy, probably from lack of sleep. "Hi."

"Are you feeling better?" I extend my hand to touch her cheek and she nods. She touches my hand and rests against it. We don't talk about our conversation we had just a couple of hours ago.
