Paige was on her way to her brother's room when she heard Matthew's voice, loud in his room. He was laughing. His laugh was a musical yet haunting laugh.
"Under control...brother told...Carstairs girl..." She leaned against his door.
The door gave out underneath her and slide open. She stumbled into Matthew's room. He had a phone up to his ear. Matthew chuckled, "I have to go." He ended the call.
"What do we have here?" He asked.
Paige stood up straight. "You were talking about me."
"I was telling my uncle about the Institute. Nothing out of the ordinary about that." He tilted his head and looked at her.
"I see." She turned to leave.
"There's something different about you, Miss Carstairs."
Paige stopped with her hand on the open door. "There's nothing different about me. And it's Paige."
She walked out of the room and once she was in the hallway, Matthew spoke. "I'm sorry about your parents, Paige."

Henry cleaned blood off of his long sword as they walked back to the Institute. He parted ways with Isabella and walked back to his room. He saw Paige closing the door to his brother's room and she didn't look too happy.
"Henry?" Paige said.
"Yeah. It's me." He responded.
She walked over to him and looked horrified when she saw that he was covered in blood. "Are you alright?" She put a hand on his face where he was bleeding.
"I'm fine." He said and gently swatted her hand away. "I need to go clean up, now."
And he left her.

Paige awoke in the middle of the night to screaming. She ran out of her room and down the hall. She found herself back in the octagonal room, breathing heavily.
"He's a monster, Alex." She heard someone say. Then she saw her mother walk into the room.
"But you're dead." Paige wanted to say, but was too stunned to say anything.
Her father followed her in. "He's a child."
"I saw his eyes. They were glowing!" Her mother yelled.
"Calm down," he said, "you're worrying too much. You know those kids are all different, he's just demonstrating his talents a little early."
Her mother stood up and stomped her feet, like a child throwing a tantrum. "He's not the good kind of different. He's as good as Satan."
Then Paige's mother turned to her. She looked at Paige with the sorrowful eyes of a lunatic. "You must save them, Paige."
Her mother disappeared with a scream as loud as a banshee, taking Paige's father along with her. And when Paige woke the next morning, she found herself on the dark oak bench in the octagonal room.
