"Bitch Better Have My Money!" Poca and I sang as we flung our hands in the air vibing to Rihanna's song.

Poca and Kyshard had officially opened up another one of his hide outs called Break-Of-Dawn in the city. This was Poca speciality. She turned drug money into an investment to secure a legit future for both her and her family.

Tonight, we were in complete Bad Bitch Mode with straight out black at an all white party. We look down from the third balcony at the many people just vibing and having a good time. Kyshard wasn't the type of man who liked drama so the area was crowd with undercover securities who were dressed in all white as well.

"You're hungry?" Poca asked as we continued to smile and sway with the music .

"Yea whats good here?" I asked.

"I love the seafood platter. With sweet sauteed shrimps, cracked lobster and conch. You want that?" She asked.

"Yea and a bottle of water and lemonade." I said as I moved back to the couch to take my seat while she headed down stairs to the kitchen.

I pulled out my cellphone and continued checking my whatsapp and call log. Even though tonight was exactly what I need I still wanted to see Carter. Poca's words kept ringing in my ears like a bell. Not only were they true but they were the same advice I gave her when one of Kyshard friends wanted their sister, Jordan to be with Ky instead of Poca. Never in a million years I thought I would've chicken out over some 2nd handed bullshit like that.

If Mr. Dean thought this was over he was sadly mistaken.

"Giselle! Whats cracking?" I heard from behind as the sweet smell of male cologne fill my nostril.

"Nothing much. Whats up with you?" I said as Kyshard gave me a hug before talking a seat besides me.

"I'm blessed and happy." He replied as he poured himself another drink. "I've been meaning to thank you so much." He said with a smile.

"For what?" I asked confused.

"For staying loyal to Poca. Since the whole drug thing blown up, the real estate business, the clubs, restaurant and resorts Poca didn't know who to trust." He said.

"Really? She never said anything." I replied.

"Well of course not. You know how yall go. Thick like an afro and steady as a tree." He joked. "When you came over that day and she came back home she couldnt stop talking about it. She was finally back in her girlie mode. I'm thankful for it. It's been years since I've seen her like that so thank you." He said extending his fist.

"Your welcome." I returned the dap.

"So, about you and Carter." He said placing the glass down and turning the bottle up to his head.

"Shit." I smirked.

"Yea. Thats my left hand man. Don't worry he ain't in the shit game like me so you good. But don't think he'll never find shit out Bey. He might not know about it now or today but he'll figure it out." He said as Poca walked upstairs with a huge tray of food.

"Did your heart string tell you?" I asked him looking at Poca.

"Hell yeah I did. Thats his boy and he knows that if anything should be in tack for a man is his family. Let the business fall apart but the personal life gotta be solid.

"Correct. Now Bey, that man got billions riding on him. The fact that he even considered settling down is shocking. He don't do that even with Blue's mama. That was his friend he comforted while she going throw it. So if he saw you and decided to please his heart and not his penis then he's serious about you." Ky ranted. "You can't be letting him go to Iraq with his personal life out of control. That would get him kill, ask any solider."

"I'm gonna fix it okay." I said with my head hang.

"I know you will but I need you to be hard like Beyonce 3-5 years ago." Poca said. "You know, we act the fool first and ask questions never." She said with a huge grin across.

"I'mma handle it." I said opening the bottle of Lemonade and chewing down on some shrimps.

The rest of the night went smoothly. Poca and Kyshard was the envied couple all night and just like old times, Poca wouldn't be Poca if she didn't have to bitch slap one of those thirsty plastic filled bitches for trying to rub up on either Kyshard or one of his married men in the crew.

"So why didn't you tell me you knew people in this town?" I asked Carter as he and I strolled through the downtown area.

"Because it wasn't anything to tell." He answered as he kissed the side of my head.

"Really? So you didn't think that I would find out?" I asked him.

"Oh Lord." He said with a wide smile. "Of course you would. I already knew you and Poca were closed when I told Kyshard about you after our first date.

"Hmm..So did you have him spy on me while you were away?" I asked curious.

"No I didn't. He did offer tho' but I declined it. Maybe if i had agreed to it, the situation with you and that fuck-boy wouldn't have happen." He said looking off into a blank spot.

"You're not the cost of it. I was kind of foolish for jumping into the relationship based on what Kelly kept telling me." I replied. "Not knowing that she had her own agenda."

"Where did this Kelly from? Kyshard said you and Poca were thick as theives but then it just stopped." He asked.

"Well, Poca is like 2 & 1/2 years older than me. So when she got married and found her lover, she had to put him first. He was Mr. Big shot and she was Mr. Big shot wife. She had designer shoes and clothes and she lived an hour and half from me. Plus, I was starting college, got mixed up with a college senior and then I met Kelly. Kelly made me think that I wasn't in Poca's bracket anymore and if I wasn't a girlfriend of fuck buddy to a drug runner then I would never fit in Poca circle." I explained.

"And you believed her?" He asked.

"Well, yea. Poca was throwing big all white parties and fancy birthday bashes. When she opened the clubs the entire VIP section was just loaded with drugers and their partners and I wasn't a partner. So I thought about what Kelly said and believed her. I never lost touch with Poca but she wasn't my go to girl anymore." I said kind of feeling bad how we let 3 years went right down the drain.

"You can't keep taking everything people tell you like its the gospel. You know that and I know you know that. If you go to someone for advice, unless they have been in your shoes or in your shoes they can't tell you exactly how it feels. They can only tell you how they think it feels based on what they see." He said as we sat on the bench in front of the shopping plaza.

"Well I know better now." I said kissing his lips.

"Yea because if you had left me like you did Poca over what Mr. Dean said I would've fuck up the place until I felt satisfied." He said pulling me onto his lap.

The atmosphere around us went quiet as I looked at Carter with shocked eyes. My heart was picking up a beat as I tried to form the words correctly. There was no way? How? I rambled through my mind as I tried get the words out.

"How?" I was able to asked.

"When you love someone, its your job to protect them." He said looking in my eyes. "At all causes."
