Longer Than That (p.2)

**Just so you know this part might be dramatic. It'll just be Mason and Gina.**

-Gina's POV-

I sat there, quietly. It was like everything stopped. It was just me and him. And I didn't want to face the truth. It's painful. "So, you think I fled." he asked.

"You did."

"I thought we were cool."

"What do you mean? I'm a complicated person, you should know that."

"That's a little much to expect."

"No it isn't. We might as well stop pretending."

"Pretending what?"

"That we had just met at the mall."

~Flashback~

I was walking home from school one day. Lee had a project, so she had to go home earlier than usual. At the time, I was 17, so this was kinda recent. I went onto my laptop and onto iChat.

'Hey' I got a message from Lee.

'Hey, I thought u had a project.'

'Just finished it. I found this site called meggley.com'

'What's that?'

'It's a chat site where u can talk to random strangers from anywhere.'

'Sounds stupid.'

'Ur stupid. jks'

'tu es tres bete!'

'tres drole. so, u gonna check it out?'

'sure. not like anything bad's gonna happen.'

So I went on. I spent about an hour on it. I was about to close the tab when someone said hi. His temporary username was 'HotSickness90' and I thought he was some conceited, self-absored jerk. I was wrong. He was so sweet. So we talked...and talked...and talked. At some point, he asked me for my number, but I just gave him my iChat user. 

'Can I see you?'

'Why?'

'I wanna see who I'm talkin to.'

'B.S!'

'It's true! You're gergeous on the inside. So, I just wanna see if your looks match.'

'Fine.' So I sent a pic. We'd been talking for about a month now. His name was Michael and he was gorgeous. We got really close and I felt like I could really trust him. After 4 months, he finally asked me.

'Can I see you?'

'Lol, you  hv already.'

'No i mean in person'

I hesitated for a bit, but I trusted him.

'yeah, okay. when and where?'

'tomorrow at Denar Sq. 2:30pm'

'I'll be there.'

'awesome. im looking forward to it.'

'g'night.'

'sweet dreams.'

So, the next day, I took Lee with me and we headed to the square. She was a bit surprised that I was actually meeting this guy, but she made sure her aunt was nearby so now she's cool with it. We waited for about 30 minutes then went inside and did some stuff. I checked my phone about 50 times, but nothing. We ended up staying in the area for about 3 hours before I realized I'd been stood up. It was December 24th, Christmas Eve. Usually it's a magical night for me, but at 6:00 pm, it wasn't. I started crying and the tears warmed up my cheeks.  Through my tears, I saw a guy with black hair and green eyes get up and start walking toward the exit. He turned around, and with hurt in his eyes, smiled at me, then went his way. 

"Who was that?" Ainslee asked.

"I dunno." But I did. Lee comforted me and it was a magical night. The night I realized she would always be there for me.

~Back to present day~

The tears rolled down my cheeks and I couldn't stop them. I didn't want to stop them. I was finally releasing my pain.

"I cared about you, Mason! You lied to me. You didn't even try to tell the truth. Then you stood me up and smiled at me. Smiled! I can't believe you."

"I cared, too. But, I'd gone too far. I couldn't tell you the truth. You'd leave me."

"So you had to do it first."

"But this happened so long ago. What's the big deal?"

"I FELL IN LOVE! For the first time in my life! I thought I'd found a guy that I could do everything with. I was young and pure! And there was raw emotion pouring out of me for you! I was stupid too, though."

"Look, Gina. I just don't think I can do 'us' again."

"You never did."

"What?"

"If only you'd shown up at the Square, but you didn't. Not as Micheal anyway."

"We can be friends. I can be there for you."

"The only one that will always be there for me, aside from my folks, is Lee. But, I feel lighter now."

"I'm sorry, Gina."

"Don't be."
