Recap:

“Lee, look over there, to your left, slowly.”

“What?” I replied, turning my head. I saw two guys smiling. They started walking over to us.

“Hi.” One of them said. He had brown hair and blue eyes. He was smiling at me. “Hi…”

-Ainslee’s POV-

Gina and that other guy were also introducing themselves. “I’m Jason.”

“Ainslee.” I replied.

He smiled again, “Ainslee…how do you spell that?”

“A-i-n-s-l-e-e.”  I replied.

“Well, it’s a nice name.”

“Thanks.” What’s confusing me is why he’s introducing himself to me. I mean, it’s pretty obvious I’m pregnant. I mean, I’m 5 months pregnant with triplets. It just doesn’t make much sense to me. Wouldn’t a person assume I was married or in a relationship? I would assume that if I saw an obviously pregnant woman.

“So, are you here with your boyfriend or husband?” Jason asked. Someone’s straightforward. “No, I don’t have one.” I replied. I seemed to have sparked some hope in him because his eyes lit up. “Ainslee, it’s our turn to order.” Gina told me.

“Alright.” I replied, moving forward in the line. “Can I get two sweet onion chicken teriyakis?” I asked the person who made the subs. “What kind of bread?” she asked. “Whole wheat for both of them.” I replied. While we waited, Jason came up to me again. “Can I have your number?” he asked. “I don’t usually give my number to strangers. If we meet again, then maybe I will then.” I replied. I heard Gina laughing.

We said what we wanted on our subs and which drinks, then went to find a table. We sat down at a table that could seat four people. “So, who was that guy you were talking to, Gina?” I asked her. “His name is Mason. He’s 21.” “That’s funny. The one I was talking to is named Jason.” I told her. “Wow. They’re probably brothers or something.” She said. “Mmhm.” I replied. “When are we buying the cribs?” Gina asked. “Probably sometime this week.” We ate in silence for a few minutes until the silence was broken. Not by us, though.

“Ainslee.” I heard someone say. I turned my head and saw Jason. “Funny meeting you again, huh?” he said, sitting next to me. His friend or brother sat down beside Gina. I could see the amusement on her face. “Yeah, very funny. Ha, ha, ha.” I replied. The rest of them started laughing. “Well, you did say I could get your number next time I saw you right?” he asked.

I nodded my head, slowly. I grabbed a pen and paper and wrote it down. I then handed it to him. “Thanks.” He replied. When we were done eating, Gina cleaned up our stuff. While I was sipping on my Fruitopia, Jason started talking again.

“I feel like I’ve seen you before…What do you do?” he asked me. I swallowed my drink and put it down on the table. “I’m a self-employed pastry chef. I own a café that is managed by a close friend. I also create cakes by the order.”

“That’s probably where I’ve heard that name.” he replied. I just nodded. We talked for 10 more minutes before Gina returned with Mason. “Are you ready to go, Ainslee?” “Yeah, I am.” I picked up my bag and stood up. I felt a little flutter. Probably the babies. “Well, I’ll see you, Jason.” “Yeah, I hope so.” He said, smiling. I smiled back. We said our goodbyes and went home.
