EARLY UPDATE. ENJOY!
Leaning on the wall with my hand intertwined with Wali's we were standing side by side sometimes whispering to each other or sometimes trying to calm Yahya who was pacing the long corridor with his hands tucked in his pant pockets and his hair a complete mess while his eyes were never leaving the door behind which Rafia was, Tasneem phupo and Abeer were sitting right across us reading diferrent duas for Rafia and the baby while Murtaza and Rumaisa were currently missing who went to bring Khadija and sweets which were to be distributed to everyone.
It had been six hours when I brought Rafia to the hospital and called Wali to bring Yahya, everything was normal and now the doctors were inside though we asked Yahya to be there with her too but when Rafia started crying even more by looking at him doctor suggested that it would be better if he stays outside.
"I think I just heard a baby cry!" Yahya exclaimed from right in front of the door ready to jump inside when phupo replied "You have said it multiple times now! Yahya don't go inside because if anything happens to Rafia I'll kill you!" he frowned at the word of his mother and walked back.
"Go talk to him and make him sit," I looked at Wali who was already looking at Yahya with an amused smile.
"I have tried it multiple times--"
"Oh Allah!" we both turned to look at Yahya who suddenly exclaimed and rushed pass us towards the door which was finally opened and a nurse walked out with the small bundle of happiness wrapped in white blanket. My heart skipped a beat and I found myself holding Wali's hand a bit more tightly, giving them an assuring squeeze he led us where Yahya was standing, while Abeer and phupo joined us from the other side, both of them had a smile on their face while phupo's eyes were glassy.
"Masha Allah!" we all whispered as we looked at the baby which was calmly sleeping in his father's arm, he had a tiny little pointy nose, with chubby cheeks, his head was covered with patch of dark brown hair, and had small pink lips though his eyes were closed but he was a copy of his mother, everything was perfect and beautiful. I quickly wiped the tears which were pooled in my eyes and looked at Wali who had a wide grin on his face while he whispered something in Yahya's ear on which he grinned.
"Mother is completely fine, they are cleaning her up. It will take twenty more minutes before you can meet her." we turned to the nurse who was still standing there with a smile.
"Is she okay?" Yahya worriedly asked on which the nurse nodded and told that she also have to take the baby for further tests, on his frown she explained him it's just a normal check up for any bacteria or viruses and after answering all his questions and making him believe that everything is fine with the baby and Rafia, she walked back inside.
"Yahya recite Azaan in his ears!" Abeer reminded him.
"Oh yeah!" reciting tauz and tasmia he brought his face near the baby's ear and carefully recited azaan, the baby opened his eyes and blinked them couple of time, I felt Wali's hand on my back and I couldn't stop from imagining Wali in the same way with our baby but wasn't it too soon? He had just come out of such a big threat and I can't push my thoughts on him. Sighing when I looked back at Yahya he was looking at his son with a warm smile while the side of his eyes were wet. Clearing his throat he looked at us and moved towards Wali, "I want you to do Tahneek!"
"I would be honored!" Wali smiled and looked at the baby, taking the little prince in his arms he asked for the bottle of honey, opening the lid Yahya moved it towards him, dipping a bit of his shahdah finger (index finger) he took the bit of honey and placed it on the lips of the baby to which he quickly sucked and I bit my lower lip on looking at the exchange, I didn't noticed that I was staring at them until Wali looked up meeting my gaze as if conveying some silent message which only the two of us can understand and we did. I found myself smiling when he looked back at the baby placing a small kiss on the top of his head and whispered, "Welcome to the family."
After the nurse came to take the baby Wali and Yahya went to offer nafil while Abeer, phupo and I went inside the room where Rafia was now lying comfortably, she looked weak and extremely tired, her face was pale yet she still had a smile on her face. Phupo moved forward to congratulate her daughter-in-law and kissing her forehead she gave duas to her, next Abeer and I meet her and gushed about the baby through out which she was crying telling about how she finally understand what Khala had gone through for her and her siblings while Abeer and I laughed calming her that it's all okay.
By the time both the men were back Abeer and I were pleading Rafia to tell us the name but having the upper hand she was dismissing us that she is only going to disclose it once everyone would be here, Abeer turned to Wali but he also failed when Yahya shrugged and said let the another chachu and chachi join us then we'll get to know the name. Sighing we sat back on the couches telling Rafia about Yahya's restlessness and teasing the two of them when the door opened and nurse walked in with the baby in her arms followed by Rumaisa, Murtaza and Khadija.
"He is so cute, Masha Allah!" Rumaisa exclaimed as she entered and there was a new wave of energy in the room.
"Now tell us the name!" Abeer pleaded again to her brother, Yahya who looked at Rafia and nodding at each while making us more curious, he turned towards us with a smile, "We are going to call him Ahyan!"
"Ahyan Bin Yahya." Rafia replied with a smile.
"It's a perfect name!" Rumaisa squealed.
"It's really a beautiful name!" Abeer and I agreed while looking at the little baby who was lying in bed beside his mother.
"Mama I want to look at the baby!" we all looked at Khadija who was shyly standing beside Rumaisa and spoke for the first time, the rest of us smile and Rafia called her forward. Taking slow step towards the bed she tip towed to peak at him. "He is small!" she said in a whisper making all of us chuckle while Rafia replied, "Yeah because you are the big sissy now!"
"I am the big sissy?" she asked with wide eyes completely surprised by the new fact. "He is so tiny! I love him!" She whispered again wiping her tears making all of us surprised by her reaction.
"Now we all are going to have the photo session with the baby! First mama and baba!" Abeer called for everyone's attention and asked Yahya to go join Rafia and Ahyan and as he was ready for it he quickly ran towards them, bending he place a kissed on his wife's forehead.
"Dude the kids are here!" he got teased by Murtaza.
"But baba you kiss mama too on her cheeks!" Khadija turned towards her father placing her hands on her hip making us all laugh while her parents groan. After clicking few shots of Yahya and his little family while Khadija also joined them Abeer turned to us. "It's now time for Ahyan's buri ammi and buray abu!"
"Who's that pupo?" Khadija inquired.
"Wali bhayia and bhabi, Dija!"
"But he is Wi and Dija 1!" she argued.
"Jani that's what you call them!"
"But he s Wi," she turned to Wali, "Wi!" calling out for help on which he nodded.
"Yes Abeer I am Wi!"
"Okay! Then Wi and Dija 1 it's your turn." Abeer nodded smiling , "Come on bhabi pick him up!" Going towards the cradle I picked up Ahyan who was now awake, his honey colored eyes sparkling with purity, placing my arm carefully under his neck supporting his body with my other hand I turned to walk towards Wali whom I found looking at us intently with amazement in his eyes. As I reached towards him he carefully wrapped his arm around us looking at the baby. We heard Abeer called us so clearing my throat I looked at the camera but my attention was fully taken by him again when I heard him whisper,
"I can't wait to have you and our baby like this."
