Today the morning felt far more brighter, sun rays were glimmering through the glass walls spreading their warmth in the deserted living room and in kitchen I was preparing Wali's favorite for the breakfast while he was cleaning up after his run. Today he was leaving for three days and already I am craving for his presence.

"Oh Allah!" I vigorously shook my head as I placed coffee on the table.

"Khadija!" I turned towards the stairs as I heard his hurried voice and he was struggling with his sleeves button while running down stairs. "Kha--" his voice dropped as a smirk took a place on his face when our eyes met as I was standing with my hands on my hip and raised eyebrows.

"My cuff links?" he sheepishly smiled as he neared and stopped few steps away from me.

"You are such a baby." I rolled my eyes as I passed him taking the stairs without turning knowing very well that he would be following me.

"I am actually a baby--"

"No baby jokes, Wali!" I warned as I turned to look at him my index finger pointed at him.

"No baby jokes. Got it!" He stopped biting his lips trying to control his laugh while his hands raised in surrender.

"Good!" I swiftly turned again as I pulled up the sleeves of my jumper and walked up the stairs, getting inside the room I quickly walked towards our closets where all his cuff links were placed and then picking a suitable pair to go with his sky blue and thin white stripe shirt. Picking  a silver rectangular pair I turned to face Wali who was leaning on the door frame his hands tucked in the pocket of his black dress pants.

"I am going to miss you," I heard him say as I got closer to him, my eyes were glued on his chest not daring to look in those intense dark brown ones which could read my every thought and as now I was in an emotional turmoil I also didn't want him to leave with any negative vibe. "Khadija?" I looked away as he grasped my cold hands and then bringing me closer he bent his head a bit searching for my eyes.

"I am okay," I quickly brought a forced smile as I looked at him and handed him what he needed.

"Your eyes says otherwise." his husky whisper made the tears pooled in my eyes drop across my cheeks.

"It's my appointment, they are going to confirm the results. It's just that I am awfully scared and please don't say that you are right and you should stay and accompany me because right now I want you to go and get the damn deal we have been busting our asses for." I wiped my head and looked into his eyes which were also hiding numerous emotions.

"And I still think I should stay with you," he shook his head and sighed.

"Wali ignore my stupid mood--"

"Mood swings you mean," he teased, playfully punching his chest I left the room.

We both were seated on the table discussing his plans and all three days schedule when the door bell rang, Wali stood up to receive Yahya and Rafia while I cleared the table.

Today was my appointment to confirm the results which everyone was sure of and I was ignoring a hidden fear in my heart behind all the hopes, Wali was though going all the way to Boston but he has asked Rafia to go with me as Rumaisa was busy while adjusting Khadija to her new preschool. Clearing all the dishes I went back to where the three of them were busy conversing or more like Wali continuously repeating the same instructions he had been giving Rafia since he agreed on letting me go with her after fajar.
