Diagon Alley was filled with action. Everywhere I look, something is happening. There were about a million shops, and everything was so intriguing. The streets were filled with people, but as I was walking, I was pushed to the side as a large man, being closely trailed by a small boy with round glasses and scruffy black hair made a wide berth in the middle of the street. As the boy passed me, he glanced at me, and I saw the lightning shaped scar on his forehead. Others saw this to, and whisper spread through the street. "Harry Potter." "It's Harry Potter." "Mummy, look its Harry!"
I had never heard of this "Harry Potter" guy. I assume that he is famous, or something like that. "Hmm." I thought to myself. " I wonder if that big guy he was following was his bodyguard." I didn't stay to ponder it though. So many weird things had happened today, and I realized, that these kinds of events might be normal to others out there. Maybe this is just what the real world was like. One where you weren't shrouded away from the rest of the world, with no information.
I looked at my letter, and spotted a place called "Flourish and Blotts", that looked as though it sold books. I walked inside, and an employee spotted me, and asked me what year I was entering.
"Oh first year. Why do you ask?" I asked the employee. She was a young woman, wearing emerald robes.
" Because I was just going to show you where all the books you need are! Unless you already know of course." she said, smiling kindly at me.
"Actually, I don't know where there are, so yes, please do show me!"
We walked towards a shelf labeled, " First through Third year." She began speaking and said, "Well you'll need Standard Book of Spells, Year One, and A History of Magic, by Bathilda Bagshot, oh and we can't forget A Magical Theory, oh and also," She went on and on, pulling out a large amount of books and somehow levitating them in the air as she continued pulling out books.
Finally she finished and saw the awed look on my face as I was staring at the levitating books. " What?" she said. " Are you a Muggle-Born?"
"N-no. I've just never seen magic before. I'm a pureblood. My family just doesn't think its good for a child to see or use magic, until they know the proper way to use magic."
"Huh, really? What family?"
"The LeClair family miss."
"Huh, never heard of them, sorry."
Finally, someone who didn't know my family.
" Oh my name is Rose by the way! What's yours?"
"Mine's Sage. Are these all the books I need?" She had somehow managed to keep them all floating throughout our conversation.
"Yes, lets take them to the counter, so you can buy them and get on your way. Oh, you are probably going to need something to carry all your things. Here, come with me. I've got something in the back you can have.
We walked, and she kept the books afloat. We walked into the back room, and she pulled out something that I remembered from a muggle book I read. It was called a suitcase, but this one seemed extremely small. I stared at it, as she explained. " Well you see," she started, "This is small on the outside, but it has a undetectable extension charm on it, so that means that it has never-ending space, but will still remain the same size and weight! Isn't that convenient? "
[Hahaha. It's bigger on the inside]
" Yes it is. Thank you so much! Now then, where do I purchase all these?" I said, gesturing to the books and the suitcase.
"Follow me! Luckily, we aren't very busy right now, so the line shouldn't be long." she said as we walked out of the back room and into the store again. There was one person in line ahead of us, and after they bought their things, Rose moved forwards, and the books suddenly began levitating down onto the counter. The cashier rang it up, and I pulled out the leather pouch and payed for my new books. I realized that I hadn't bought the suitcase, so I said,
" So, Rose, how much will this suitcase cost?"
"Oh, for you... Free!"
"Really! Thank you!" I began reaching for my books to put them inside the purple suitcase, but then they flew off the counter, almost hitting me, and flew into the suitcase. The suitcase zipped itself up, and Rose smiled at me, and said, "Well I hope to see you around. Good luck at Hogwarts!"
I spotted a clock on the wall, and saw that I should be home in about an hour, and I had only bought my books. I quickly began to speed walk out of the shop and waved goodbye to Rose.
I headed outside. It was time to get the rest of my things. And I would have to do it quickly.
A/N Hey! Sorry this is being posted at 11:44 I haven't been able to get much done today, as I was busy... procrastinating. Also, I just wanted to say that I am planning to make this one of my longer fanfictions, and I might add a couple of other short stories, so I may or may not be updating this one everyday. Also, as it is summer, I have some trips planned, so there will be times when I don't upload anything for a while. In about a week, I have a theater camp for two weeks, so I wont be updating everyday. Sorry! Anyways I'm rambling and need sleep! Bye! <3 ~Maya
