(Before the chapters didn't have titles, now they do, since its not day by day)
My first flying class was scheduled for today, and I was more than excited so to say. I had been looking forward to this since I heard that flying classes were a thing.
Finally, after much waiting, I was standing next to John and Quinn, waiting for flying class to start. The butterflies in my stomach felt more like pigeons having a dance party. Then our teacher Madame Hooch appeared. Her eyes were yellow and stern, and her short, gray hair flapped in the chilly breeze,
"Well, what are you all waiting for? Everyone stand by a broomstick.Come on, hurry up!" she barked at us as we scurried to the brooms.
My broom was worn down, and had some twigs missing. I thought back to the Nimbus Two-Thousand. That broom looked much better quality. But nonetheless I was ecstatic for this class, so I disregarded the state of my broom and looked up at Madame Hooch.
"Stick out your right hand over your broom and say up." said Madame Hooch.
I stuck out my hand and said "Up!" forcefully. The broom on the ground flew up into my hand a bit to strong and I stumbled backwards, catching my footing before I could fall over. Quinn giggled, as John helped me regain my balance, holding his broom in his left hand which had almost hit him in the face when he said up. We moved back to the line, and Madame hooch helped us mount our brooms correctly. Then after a while of correcting and irritation from Madame Hooch, she said
"Now, when I blow my whistle, you kick off from the ground, hard. Keep your brooms steady, rise a few feet, and then come straight back down by leaning forward slightly. On my whistle-three-two-o- "
The boy standing next to me had flown up 12 feet in the air, his face pale white and fear in his eyes. The end of his broom hit my stomach and I stumbled again, but my eyes were on the boy rising higher and higher, and then with loud thud, he fell from the broom, and landed on his wrist. I pushed my way up and off the ground, moving forwards to help, but was pushed back by a boy with slicked back, blonde hair. He shoved me, and I stumbled back once again, hating my clumsiness and immediately despising the blonde boy, glaring at him as John and Quinn pulled me up.
Madame Hooch took the boy to the hospital wing, as he had broken his wrist, and told us to not take off on our brooms. The blonde boy stepped forwards holding something.
"It's that stupid thing Longbottom's gran sent him!" the boy held up the remembrall and it glittered in the sunlight.
Then I spotted the famous boy that I saw in Diagon Alley step forwards. He looked the blonde boy straight in the face and said,
"Give it here Malfoy."
The blonde boy, Malfoy, smiled nastily and said, "I think I'll leave it somewhere for Longbottom to find-how about- up a tree?"
"Give it here!" Harry shouted. He lunged for Malfoy, but he had already lept off the ground on his broom. He yelled out from above,
"Come and get it Potter!"
Harry pulled up his broom, and was about to mount it when a girl with bushy hair and brown eyes stepped out.
"No!" she shouted at Harry, with a look of fury and fear in her eyes. "Madame Hooch told us not to move- you'll get us all in trouble!"
Despite her words, Harry pushed off the ground, moving quickly towards Malfoy. He had a giddy look in his eyes, as he chased the blonde haired boy. The wind swept away whatever sound was happening between them. They seemed to shout at each other. Some whispers were happening in the crowd around us, but some had just stopped talking, and were staring up at Harry and Malfoy in the sky. Suddenly Malfoy threw the ball up into the air and Harry dove down on his broom to catch it, shooting through the air, straight towards the ground. A few people screamed, but the entire time John, Quinn, and I were all just staring at the scene happening above us.
Harry caught the ball just before it would have shattered on the ground. He straightened his broom, but the momentum was still enough to send him tumbling lightly onto the grass. He stood up smiling and then,
"HARRY POTTER!"
My head whipped around to see Professor McGonagall dashing across the Quidditch field, a look of shock in her eyes.
"Never-in all my time at Hogwarts-" she stuttered, seeming speechless. Then she found her words and screeched at Harry, "-how dare you- might have broken your neck-"
A girl with hair the colour of dark chocolate and a boy with flaming red hair and freckles steeped forwards to defend Harry.
"It wasn't his fault, Professor-"
"Be quiet , Miss Patil."
"But Malfoy-"
"That's enough Mr. Weasly. Potter, follow me,now"
And Harry followed her as they disappeared back into the building. Everyone was in complete silence, as we just stood there taking in what happened.
Except for Malfoy.
He had quickly descended while Harry was chasing after the ball. He and two burly students stood behind him smiling mischievously. He stepped forwards smiling triumphantly as he said in a boastful tone,
" Well that's it then. Potter's gone for good!"
"Oh shut up Malfoy. I doubt that." said the boy with the red hair.
"Why do you think that Weasly?"
The boy was rendered speechless as Malfoy and his cronies laughed at him.
I went to step forward, but felt John's hand grasp mine and pull me back.
"This isn't your battle. And Hooch will be back in a few moments anyways. Let them work it out."
By this point everyone had shifted back towards where we were standing when Longbottom broke his wrist. We sat twiddling our fingers while Malfoy and Weasly glared at each other. I was sitting on the grass with John, and Quinn was attempting to make her broom fly without her in the air. When Madame Hooch came back, the class time was already over, and so, to my great disappointment, we didn't get a flying class that day.
But it was okay, because afterwards, I had the best hot chocolate ever, and a fun afternoon with John and Quinn.
