Hogwarts is so beautiful. Its absolutely incredible, and I had just seen it for the first time. The magic that seemed to radiate from the castle made it have a glow, almost seeming lit up in the moonlight. Everything felt so surreal. Hogwarts was absolutely stunning.
Quinn, John and I sat there in silence, staring up at the castle. Then suddenly the boats stopped. We climbed out, and after that, everything was a bit of a blur. We followed Hagrid for a while, and that's the part I don't remember, as I was looking at the castle. By now Quinn and John had taken their eyes off the castle, but I hadn't . I think that at some point they both noticed me tripping my way up the path, and by the end of the walk, I do remember both of them holding each of my hands, steering me along. We reached the entrance of Hogwarts. Hagrid lifted his hands and knocked three times on hte door.
When the door swung open, the first thing I spotted was a tall, black-haired witch in emerald-green robes. She stood there with a stern look on her face. Hagrid began speaking.
"The firs' years, Professor McGonagall" he gestured up to her.
"Thank you, Hagrid. I will take them from here." she said, pulling the doors open wider.
We all followed her into the entrance hall. It was massive, absolutely humongous when you compared it to the entrance hall of the manor. The walls were lit up with multiple torches ablaze. The ceiling was extremely tall, but I could just see a sliver of where it ended.
We followed Professor McGonagall along the hard stone floor. I tripped over the fabric of my slightly to long robes. I could hear hundreds of voices speaking as we passed a doorway to the right, but Professor McGonagall led us to a small empty room of the hall. We all crowded into the to small room, and I was closer to some people than I would like to be. John however is so consumed in his book, and I'm pretty sure he has just been following along this entire time. I tap his shoulder, and lean over to whisper to him,
"Hey I think that its time to put the book down. This is so weird and your missing it all!"
He glances up, hearing me, and then slips a bookmark out of his pocket and into his robes.
"Welcome to Hogwarts." said Professor McGonagall suddenly, causing me to jump. "The start-of-term banquet will take place in a few minutes in front of the rest of the school. I suggest you all smarten yourselves up as much as you can while you are waiting. I shall return when we are ready for you. Please wait quietly." She strolled out of the chamber, and the minute she did, whispers broke out among all of us. I turned to John, who , surprisingly, wasn't reading his book again. He smiled at me and I asked him,
"So, do you have any clue what this Sorting Hat is?"
"No idea"
"Lovely"
A/N Sorry for the short chapter, but hey, my camp is over, so I will definitely try to update way more often! So yeah! I would like to say that, throughout the rest of the story, I will be using direct lines and aspects of the story from the books. All copyright still remians, anything that isnt mine is Queen J.K.'s . Btw, I have a new story, its completely random, but if you wanna check it out you should! Until next time, bye! ~Maya
