Soda was highly confused, but that didn't stop him from kissing me back. He pulled away turning towards the rest of the gang. My friends were all squealing among themselves, and I could tell that they were taken away with Soda's good looks. No way I could blame them, and only Brooklyn had met him before. She had a car so she visited the Dx before, but Martha and Madeleine hadn't.
The gang mouths were hanging open, and I couldn't help it that my cheeks were turning bright red.
"And I thought you guys broke up!" Two bit called out, and I tried to play it cool, but it was awkward as it could get. My hand was being pulled and I turned back to Soda. His face was smiling, almost like a sense of relief came over him and he leaned in and his voice was a soft whisper.
"I'm gonna get changed, we will talk about this later," Soda squeezed my hand and headed to his room. It almost seemed like the fight never happened, the love was still there, and I wished I could just hold him forever because I missed him so much.
"Where's he going?" Steve asked me while fighting Dally for a bag of chips.
"He's getting his bed ready," Dally snickered. Quickly I shot him a very dirty look, almost as dirty as his joke. Soda got ready to fast for me to answer, his hair all wet without all the grease.
"Let's get this party started!" He hopped onto the couch sitting next to Pony. "Scoot over pony, with her little friends over Valerie's got nowhere to sit! Unless you want to sit on my lap, Val," Soda winked at me while the gang all laughed.
"No thanks, rather go sit with Martha. And that's Madeline, Soda. Sorry for bringing all these strangers into your home, but hey you let Tim Shepard crash here, I guess they could too," I plopped on the floor next to my friends, Martha had already hit it off with Two-bit.
"Hey, Tim's a cool guy you know. But you wouldn't know cause your not from the hood," Dally cut in. Some days he was cool with Tim and other days they fought with eachother. Never knew where they stand.
"Wait, when are we going to talk?" Soda asked, which I knew he wanted to talk about our fight.
"Not now, maybe later. No worries right now ok?" I told him, because I just wanted this moment to be enjoyable before I remember how upset I was at Soda. May I just pretend that everything was fine, but later I would sit down and talk with him.
"You guys all 16?" Two-bit asked my friends.
"No they are seventeen, I have seen them around school before. You would too Two-bit, if you decided to show up," Steve told Two-bit.
Brooklyn cut in, "aren't you the 18-year-old who's been held back for a couple of years?" I really wished she hadn't said that, I knew better than to call out the gang.
"Aren't you a judger, miss Soc," Soda teased, and it was true. Brooklyn was rich, but she had bad blood with most of the socs, especially Randy and Cherry. And they were all perfect students, Brooklyn could be quite the rebel. She skipped school quite often and got into fights. The boy socs jumped, but never the girls. But her parents were so lenient, it didn't matter.
"Hey, dont call her a Soc, that's insulting. Being a girl greaser is the shit!" I laughed while serving myself to another drink. Things were finally going right again, so why not indulge even if my parents would throw a fit later on.
"You are not a greaser Val, and you wouldn't want to be either. Can't let those stupid socs jump you," Soda responded. I noticed that about the greasers, they were proud of being in their gang and not being a soc, but they didn't like the label greaser either.
"Well your a greaser, and I'm your girl, so I'm a honorary greaser," I protested. My friends cringed at me. Don't get me wrong, I did love them, but I wish they weren't so concerned with their image. But all I hoped that after this, they would accept Soda and gang and have a new opinion of the greasers.
"True that Valerie, now I'm bored. Let's play a game with your friends, we are all dying to get to know them." Dally smirked at me. If my friends weren't so easily embarrassed, I would have the told him, no that they did not want to sleep with him.
"You okay with it Soda? Would you guys all play?" I turned to Johnny and Pony, who were being awfully quiet.
"I would play, as long as it's not spin the bottle," pony turned straight to two-bit. That was his favorite game.
"Oh Pony, you're a kid. We are going to play some clean games. Is never have I ever good?" I asked, but I never played before. Sadly I wasn't an expert on drinking games, but I heard someone at school saying they played it and they had explained it to me.
"Val, you actually know that game?" Dally laughed at me. "Everyday I find out your less and less innocent then I thought you were," Dally took another smoke as I wrinkled my nose at the foul smells. Dally, Ponyboy, and Johnny were the heavy smokers. Dallas I expected, but never had I understood how Ponyboy and Johnny fell into the habit while the others hadn't.
"Me too Dallas," Madeline squinted at me, and I gave her the most angelic smile. My friends were out of the loop with most things I was doing these days.
"Wait how do you play Dallas?" Johnny questioned. Of course he didn't ask me, Johnny and I hardly ever spoke. He would just keep to himself and Ponyboy.
"It's easy, the asker says never have I ever .. I don't know lets just say play checkers for example. And if you had played checkers you take a drink. But if nobody has done it, the asker take a drink to be fair. So don't ask anything too far-fetched if you don't want to get hammered," Dally answered, and Johnny nodded his head. The rest of the gang seemed very eager to play, but I knew it was just poke fun of the things my friends and I had or hadn't done.
"Ok, I will go first. Never have I ever in the past year, not gone a week without smoking," I turned around to see all my friends taking a drink. None of them smoked, this was mostly to call out Dally. Johnny and Ponyboy took a drink, and the Dally followed. Steve and Two-bit followed, saying that usually smoked occasionally but never went more then a week. Soda didn't, and let me just say that I was kind of proud of that. Darry too, but that wasn't much of a shock.
"My turn, never have I ever cheated on my boyfriend or girlfriend," Sodapop asked the gang. If this was his way of calling me out, then go right ahead. Because I never cheated, but it would be interesting to see who did. Dally took another drink, what a surprise there. He stared at me funny, his facial expressions were almost like "you know you have." As far as I was concerned I hadn't, maybe Dally and I have been a little too close for comfort but that was his doings, not mine. Two-bit took a drink, which I wasn't even aware he ever had a girlfriend even though I knew him for as long as I could remember.
"Yikes I feel bad your ex-girlfriends," It made me mad, but yelling at them would never change their ways.
"I got a good one!" Brooklyn said. "Never have I ev-
"I'm going next," Dally interrupted.
