I stayed home for the next couple of days. I thought eventually someone would call, come over, or at least something. But no. Maybe Soda didn't care, maybe none of them did. I looked out the window and saw some cars passing by, kids running around. It was a beautiful day, so I figured it was time to do something with my life.
None of my parents were home, so I just climbed out the window and started a walk. I had no idea where I was going, I didn't really have anywhere to go anyways. Maybe something would catch my attention as I walked.
And just so, something did. Dally was walking, smoking a cigarette and hopefully not doing anything to get him into trouble. I looked up and smiled, and he did the same, except his smile was more of a cocky look.
"Hey girl, haven't seen you in a while!" he said, checking me out as I tried not to roll my eyes. "Are you drunk?" I said, laughing because it's impossible to tell with him.
"Damn, are you kidding me? It's like 3 in the afternoon, I think I will wait until later," dally said, winking at me. "So how come you haven't been around lately? It's weird not seeing you on Soda's lap lately," He smirked, and I just rolled my eyes.
"Very funny Dallas!" I said sarcastically, punching him in the arm. "I'm just doing other things you know?" I don't think I can lie convincingly.
"Val, spending the last days at home isn't doing other things. We all know you would be with Soda if you could, so tell me the god damn truth!" He said, with annoyance or maybe anger. You didn't want to make Dallas Winston angry, and I have seen it firsthand so many times already. Dally was the kind of guy that could make you feel safe just because you knew he could protect you, but then scared because you never knew what he was capable of.
"Well, what have the other guys said?" I asked, wanting to know if Soda even cared about my disappearance. "I think Pony noticed and asked Soda where you were. But he told him he didn't know. Why?" Dally looked confused, but maybe he knew what exactly was going on.
"Do you think Soda misses Sandy?" I just put it bluntly, straight to the point. I just wanted to hear what Dally said, but I don't think he was really a reliable source. His once mean look turned into a smile, and I was concerned for what he was going to say.
"Your saying that the reason you're are avoiding Soda is because you think he still has feelings for Sandy? God that has to be the biggest bullshit I have ever heard. Sandy is long gone, and never coming back. Even if he did, there isn't anything he can do but move on. I'm not saying he doesn't miss her, because I never know about that kid, man. He is sensitive, and he was always going on about how he had found the love of his life and all that. I don't understand him." Dally shook his head, and I just looked down. I was still hurt, but I couldn't show it.
"So, am I just a rebound to him or something?" We were almost at Soda's house, but now more than ever I just wanted to turn around and go back home.
"I don't know, he seemed so crazy about you and you helped him back to his normal self. He isn't annoying with you as he was with sandy, I never cared for that broad anyways." Well that makes two of us.
"Anyways, Sandy was kind of rebound too. He jumped into that relationship as soon as his parents died." Dally was trying to help, but I just didn't feel better.
The rest of the way was quiet, I hoped things would be just like they always are.
