Sonic and the Missing Link

Chapter Eight

(Shadow POV)

It's been awhile since my blue mate has left. The blonde haired human, know as Tails?, has been watching me. He keeps saying weird words as he watched me eat or swim or even just sitting at the bottom or the water, what they call a 'pool'. The human was always staring at my tail, making me uncomfortable... Where are you Sonic?

My mind drifted off about when we shared our first kiss. I couldn't help but smile as I picture the scene in my mind. Seeing him so pissed off then submissive as I pulled him close. I wanted to badly to just pull him in, just to keep him to myself. Keeping him away from that annoying pink bitch... She had no right to kiss him! He was mine! 'He is my mate!' is what I wanted to scream at her, just before I ripped her to shreds. I heard a shocked gasp from the blonde one, as he saw me snarl, causing my teeth to sharpen, as well as claws growing from my hands.

"Shadow ---- Okay?" Tails tilted his head to the side, "What are you ----- about?" I was very confused on what he was trying to ask.

Swimming to him, pulling myself up on the edge until I felt the edge of my tail was about to poke out of the water. "Sonic... Where go?" At first he started to shrug before jumping from a ringing inside. He rose his hand towards me before rushing inside.

It seem like ages before he came out, with something pressed against his ear, his eyes widen. He tried to explain me something but I couldn't understand, only few words. Such as my lovers name and something about the grey-haired human. Only fear showed in his sea blue eyes.

"Sonic is hurt Shadow." He finally spoke after pulling himself. My own eyes widening in fear as this hit me.

"I go to Blue!" I said, pulling myself up almost falling out. I sensed something was wrong with blue since this morning. Tails pushed me back into the water, giving him a growl.

"Calm down. H-He will be okay...." I watched as he tried to hold back his tears.

"Let me see him...." I hissed. He only looked at my tail then back to my eyes. I then realized, Sonic is somewhere very far away, not inside. Slowly, I sunk to the bottom, pulling my tail close to me. If Sonic was sick, I couldn't see him. Trying to make him feel better. He was too far away from me. My eyes went unfocused as I stare at nothing... I didn't know what to do..

"Shadow..." I heard the blonde call for me, "I'll stay here ------" I just shook my head, I need to be alone. I yelled at him to go, he clearly needed to see him. I began to wonder if I would be to see my lover ever again...

(Sonic POV)

A annoying beating sound slowly appeared in my ear. I groaned and tried to reach for my alarm clock, only to find it not there. I slowly opened my eyes, to find a bunch of machines.

"Huh...?" I did a quick look around, seeing I was not at home. The beating quicken as I scanned around, I was at the hospital. The door opened, snapping my head around, seeing Silver walk in. He quickly rushed over, seeing how scared I was.

"Are you okay?" He set his hand on my shoulder.

"Ye-yeah. As soon as I am out of here I'd be GREAT." I said as I tried to get out of the bed.

"I don't think that's such a great idea." Silver said as he pushed me back down. I struggle out of his grip.

"I want to leave, I'm fine." Again, I tried to get up, only to be held back down. I felt something drip onto my face. Silver was crying..

"I know what happens to you in the future..." He couldn't even look at me. He was shaking, trying to hold back his tears. "Please just stay here..."
"...If I am dying.... I rather do it at home. Die as a Hero.." Silver quickly look at me in the eyes, tears drenched his cheeks. His grip tighten around my arms, causing me to whince, he looked away.

"I'm sorry... Please.. Stay here. At least for awhile?..." Silver plead. I stayed silent for a long time.

"Fine." I said, as I shoved Silver off. I rolled to my side, my back to him. "Aren't you from the future? Can't you go and get the cure for whatever I have?" All I could think was Shadow... How long would I be gone from him? What was wrong with me? Why is Silver acting like this?

I sighed, I was gonna listen to Silver for a bit. Maybe this will just blow over soon, Silver just might be over reacting. It's not like I do die in the future. Of course of age, but not this young. Oh well, let's hope this gets over with.
