Sonic and the Missing Link

Chapter 14

(Silver's POV)

Oh god. Oh god!

I can't believe Shadow just walked into traffic! He body flung over a car and skidded across the black road. Blood was already staining the road, as cars swerved out of the way. Ambulances were already on there way, some people ran and others stayed. I swore Shadow was dead, till he moved. He was almost puking up blood. I was surprised Shad was even alive, and conscious.

During this whole thing, all I could was stare at the scene, as help surrounded him. His eyes were dull as he didn't care anymore. He wasn't screaming in pain or anything, and stared off.

Why would he do that? What messed him up this bad? Was it something with Sonic? My eyes widen as I realized. Did Sonic die? But how?! He was cured! He couldn't have died in his coma! Oh god.. With that I rushed off, running as fast as I could to the hospital.

The nurse said Sonic was still in the same room, that he's just woke up. Why would Shadow do something like that? I thought he would be happy. Questions flooded my head, as I made my way to Sonic's room. Why would he be so upset?...

I sighed with relief when Sonic was up and well. Tails talking with him, both of them looking at me.

"You're... Silver, right?" Sonic said after a moment, Tails looked away.

"Yeah.. You don't remember me?" I said confused.

"No.. Not really. I remembered that we met, and little stuff.. But not really..." Sonic sighed, looking down at the bed. "Do you know what happened to that black haired guy?"

That's when I felt my heartbreak. Thinking about Shadow. Remembering what happened to him. Sonic doesn't remember anything from the last ten years. So that means he doesn't know Shadow. Shadow must of just shut down, not caring what happened to him.

"I-I need to go. I-I'll be back." With that, I rushed out and tried to find the nearest nurse that could tell me about Shadow. I completely forgot about him, how he got hit by a car.

Finally, I found a nurse that could help me.

"Oh, yes sir? What do you need help with?" She said with a sweet voice.

"I need to know if my friend is okay" My breathing was heavy, as I feared the worse.

"Well, what does he look like, and what happened to them?" She looked at me with a weird look.

"He's the guy that just would have came in, he was hit by a car. He has red and black hair. Please, just tell me something about him."
"Okay, Calm down sir." She typed something on the computer. "Oh, yes. I found him. We don't know anything about him other then he may be in early 20's. Do you have his name?"

"Ugh. Can you just tell me if he's okay or not?!" It's like she was trying to put off the question!

"He's in critical condition, we just got him in. Do you know anything else that could help us?"

"His name is Shadow and he doesn't know any english. He can barely speak or understand it"

"Why is that?..." The nurse was so confused. Did she not know some people are foreign. 

"He's from a different place than us. He's foreign, what else do you think he could be?" I was starting to get real annoyed with this chick.

"Alright. You can go. We'll take care of him." She rolled her eyes, tossing aside his file.

"What do you mean I can go. I'm the only one who can understand him. I'm not going anywhere." She seemed annoyed with me. "Why are you even working here, you're terrible at your job." With that, I left and went back to Sonic's room.

A doctor was doing some test on him, and Sonic was confused.

"You gave us quite a scare Mr. Sonic. But you seemed to recovered."

"Why was I even here?" Sonic asked.

"Do you not remember?.. What year is it?" The doctor asked, crossing his arms.

"2007?... Is that wrong?.."The doctor sighed, shaking his head.

"It's 2017 Sonic.-"

"I've been in a coma for 10 years?!" Sonic eyes went wide in fear.

"No no.. You went into a coma several months ago. You had a unknown disease but this young man cured you. After that, you somehow ran away from the hospital and dropped 'dead'. When you got back, you were barely alive." Sonic sighed.

"So how come I can't remember anything from the last 10 years?.." Sonic's voice sounded disappointed.

"You may have gotten a blow to the head, causing you to forget. Or the disease may have affected your memories." The doctor flipped through his clipboard. "But we hadn't found any trauma to the head. So we have no idea how you lost your memories." A nurse walked into the room as he talked. She whispered into his ear, and the doctor nodded. " I'll come back later to check on you. I have to go now." He must be leaving because of Shadow..

"So.. Did you find out what happened to that black haired guy?" Sonic asked once the doc left.

"Ah.. Um.. He.. Got hit by a car.. I don't know much about his condition." I could just see the pain in Sonic's eyes.

"Heh... I don't even remember the guy.. But he feels special to me.." Sonic stared down, "It really hurts to hear that.." Sonic stopped talking for awhile. He seem extremely upset about what I told him. Maybe he did retain some memories. It's like his body is telling him he knows the person or not. "He'll be okay.. He seemed like a strong guy." Sonic had a slight smile,as he looked at me.

"Yeah.. I bet he'll be fine.."

A few hours later and I got a call about Shadow's health. They said he was stable but kept mumbling about a grey guy and someone called 'Blue'. Shadow clearly was meaning me and Sonic. I traveled as fast as I could back to the hospital.

I got escorted to Shadow's room. Shadow was twitching slightly in bed, clearly still in pain. A doctor and a few nurses were working around the room. Shadow must of been conscious, as he was speaking full sentences, in his own language.

"So you understand what he's saying? Even our translators can't understand him." One nurse said. Shadow jerked his arm from the nurse, only causing himself pain.

"Ah. I understand some of it.. He may be scared because of this new place and new faces.. He understands a little, but not much words." I watched as the nurse, pinned Shadow's arm down. He growled lowly, as I rushed over to him. "Ah.. Maybe wait a little till you put the i.v. in his arm. He's just scared because of the pain. Um.. Where he's from, they don't have medicine like ours." The nurse sighed, and walked away.

"Water...." Shadow said with a raspy voice. "Take Shadow to... water.." His face twisted in pain.

"Does he want to go into a bath?" The doctor asked. Shadow shook his head. Shadow groaned, finally going limp because of the pain.
