Sonic and the Missing Link

Chapter Thirteen

Chapter 13

(Tail's POV)

It's been months and Sonic hasn't woken up. Shadow refused to leave his side, and rarely was home. He hasn't been back in the water since Sonic gone into the coma. Other then showers or baths, Shadow rarely was in his mer-form. When Shadow not eating or showering, he's laying next to Sonic, stroking his face.

The doctors say he's been cured whatever ailed him, but he hasn't showed any signs of waking up. His brain activity shows that he's still alive and everything. They said there's a chance he might not remember some stuff. The doctor's don't know how severe it was going to be. It could only be a few days, or even a month. It could even be years he could lose. It all depends if he'll wake up sooner or later. I hope it won't be years.. I won't have the heart to tell him or Shadow..

Shadow won't understand this. He barely understands our language, or how to act normal. I can't blame him, since he is a mystical being that is not suppose to exist. There is no way to explain how his species came to life. I would need to study them, and see how they work. There's no way Sonic would let me do that.

I could only wonder, just what was Sonic going through in his mind.

(Sonic's POV)

--Dream world--

I was so tired.. You don't know how bad I wanted to sleep. But I couldn't, it felt like someone was calling me. For hours, I was trying to chase a bright light, only for it to go farther away. It was cold, and darkness filled around me, ready to swallow me up at any second. I was scared, and just wanted to give up. Something kept calling me back. Something warm... Something familiar. A smooth deep voice whispering in my ear, the voice seemed so familiar and close to me. But, I have no idea who that voice belonged too. It wasn't Uncle Chuck's voice.. And it was way to deep to be Tails.. Who was it?..

"Blue..." The voice called again. "Please wake up..." Wake up?... I'm asleep? That doesn't make sense. Maybe it's just my mind playing tricks on me. Or... Is he telling the truth?

If he's telling the truth, then I should be able to wake up.. Right? I should try wake up then.. and see who this mysterious voice is...

(Shadow's POV)

"Unn..." A voice groaned in my ear, causing me to jolt up.

"Sonic?" Sonic shifted and clutched his eyes close from the light.

"W...What?..." Sonic's voice was rough, his emerald green eyes slowly opening. "W... Who are you?.." His words struck my heart, feeling like I've just been shot. "W... Where-----?.."

"I... Do not know..." Slowly pulling away, I didn't know what to think or do. How did he not remember me?..

"Shadow, are you hungry? Hey, --------?..." The blonde one gasped, dropping his snack. He ran to Blue's side. "Sonic! Thank god!"

I slowly slipped back, sitting down in the soft cushion farthest away. Blocking every sound in this room, not wanting to know this world anymore. But... This was all I know. I don't remember where I came from.. Or anything about myself.. The only thing I knew was Sonic. And now.... He doesn't even remember.

I need to find that silver guy, he seems to know me.. Maybe.. Maybe he can take me back home. All I've done since I've been with Sonic, was caused pain. This is all my fault.. I should just leave.. After all he doesn't know me.

They didn't notice when I walked out, others rushing in once they heard about him. I shoved passed others, stumbling slightly.

"Sir------?" Someone asked. Staring blankly at them, they just grabbed my arm. They tried tugging me along, but I refused to move. Slowly starting to pull away from them, walking away from them. Hearing voices shouting, I just continued walking away. Trying to remember my way home, or at least find silver boy on the way.

Loud noises started to blaring off as I walked, and people screaming. I just ignored everything they said. Nothing else mattered, I.. I need to get home..

The last thing that was heard was a screeching noise and a horn going off. Someone screamed "Shadow! Watch out!!" A black void was all I could see after that.
