Chapter 4: Lucas' Graduation
Lucas Coly

I had woken up to see Chrystal by my side. I didn't know that we had both fallen asleep last night. Anyways, I have to go back to the school and get ready. I looked at the end table to see a note pad and a pen. I wrote a note to Chrystal and laid it beside her.

I carefully moved her arms from around me and looked at her. I moved her hair out her face and smiled. My baby girl, my best friend. Who knew I would have fallen in love with her like I have. I kissed her cheek and got up. I grabbed my keys and made sure I had my phone. I left the room and drove back to the college campus.

I had all my things packed and ready to be moved. I had already taken my shower and gotten dressed. I was ready to give my speech and graduate.

"And now for our top student. One of the most hardest working, dedicated, motivated student there is here at Harvard University... Lucas Coly. Graduating valedictorian and has a GPA of 4.6." The professor said.

"Yeah you go baby. That's what I'm talking about." I heard my mom yell. I laughed as I made my way to the stage.

"That's my best friend that's my best friend. You better.. I love you." Chrystal yelled and saw her blow me a kiss.

"You go son!! That's my son yall." My dad yelled, making me feel even more embarrassed. I'm surprised they haven't been escorted out the way they were yelling. But it was cute because everybody else was just laughing.

"Alright, well that was my family and my best friend and baby girl. I love you all. I want to say thank you to them first along with God because without either one of them, I would have never wanted to work hard for what I believed in. I applied for three other colleges before choosing this one because I thought maybe I wouldn't get in. Sure my grades were good and everything I just thought I wasn't cut out to attend here."

"I just thought maybe I'd give it a try and see if I make it in. I did and I'm so glad I made that choice. My fellow students, I thank you for working with me and helping me when I asked for help. I wish you the best of luck in whatever you do. My professors I thank you for pushing me to do my work and push me to get to my goal. I needed to expand my horizons as my mom would say. I never really understood what that meant until my years of going here. She meant to say that even though I may have goals set for right now.. don't settle for less. Push yourself and see what more you can do. With all this being said and alot more, I thank you again for making this college experience at Harvard University interesting." I said concluding my speech.

Alot of claps and yells sounded through the out the arena. I smiled and grabbed my diploma and shook the people's hands. I'm so proud of myself.

I walked out the arena to see my family. My mom hugged me first and then my dad. They told me congratulations and I thanked them. I didn't see Chrystal anywhere until I saw her walking up with a whole bunch of balloons. This girl is something else.

"Congratulations Lucas. You did it and I'm so proud of you." She said hugging me and I kissed her cheek.

"Well, I guess we'll head over to the college campus to get your things packed and later on we go to dinner." My dad said and we all agreed.
