Chapter 1: The Unfortunate Prank

I pushed the rest of my things into my locker and grabbed my grey purse, "See you tomorrow Riley!" Jessica waved at me as she walked the opposite way, "Tomorrow is Saturday!" I shouted back, "Oh right Monday!" She yelled back then walked out the front doors, I closed my locker and followed after her, I dug into my purse looking for my keys and phone, I found both. I unlocked the 2016 purple Ford Explorer my mom and dad got me for my sixteenth birthday, I loved it, it was a little big but not too big, and I could drive all my friends at one time, as well as I could grab my siblings. I opened the door and threw my purse into the passenger seat before sitting down and closing the door, my car always stayed clean no matter what. I checked my phone and I saw that I got a text from mom,
Mom: can you grab your siblings? I have to stay late :/
Me: for sure mom, maybe I'll get them a nice little sugar treat so when you get home you have sugury kids ;)
I texted back laughing at my evil prank, she texted back immediately,
Mom: DONT YOU DARE!!!!
I laughed and zipped my phone back into my purse before I put on my seatbelt and started the ignition. I had two younger siblings, Ava, my 3 year old sister who was in day care, and Mark, he was 6 years old. I loved them both to pieces, I decided I would pick up Mark first since he got out at 3:20 and it was now 3:10. The elementary school was only a few blocks down and the day care was one more from that. The song I Took A Pill In Ibiza came on and I nodded my head to the beat it is one of my favourite songs. The song just ended when I got to Mark's school I parked in a spot right in front of the school, grabbed my purse and walked in, Mark could just take the bus, but he always complains about it and I have to pick Ava up anyway. I open the front doors and walk into the school, it was a nice school I had been here before, the office was off to the left and the gym was straight ahead this was like the hang out area. I signed into the office and walked down to Mark's grade one classroom. I leaned against the wall as I waited him coming out the door, the bell rang and the door flung open and kids started to sprint out, I saw Mark before he saw me. He looked so cute while he was talking to his friend about his new dinky car, when he saw me his beautiful green eyes lit up and he attacked my legs giving me a hug. "Hey Mark!" I said grabbing his hand, "Hey Riles!" He said, he let go of my hand to run up to the office, I had to let the office lady know I was picking him up, and Mark loved the office ladies. "Mark!" Debby a older blonde haired lady said wrapping him in a hug. I signed him out and she smiled kindly at me, I smiled back Mark ran out and changed into his outdoors then raced out to my car jumping in the back seat, he dropped his ninja turtles bag on the floor, "Can we go get ice cream?" He asked, "Of course but, first we have to get Ava," I said, I glanced back at him and remembered I didn't have Ava's car seat. "Oh shoot!" I said, "What?" Mark asked his face looking sad, I hit the Bluetooth button on my steering wheel, "What can I help you with?" The Siri lady said, "Call Ava's Day Care Centre," I said, she dialled the number and a lady picked up, "Rainbow Day Care centre, how can I help you?" She asked, "Hi this is Riley Devin and I'm going to be picking Ava Devin up," I said, "Ah yes your mom told me you were picking her up," she said kindly, "Yes I don't have her car seat so I have to go to my moms work to pick it up, so I'm going to be late," I said, "Of course, no problem, actually if you give me a minute I think Judy dropped the car seat off," the lady said, "Ok perfect," I said, she put me on hold and twinkle little start came on and Mark sang along, "Hello?" The lady asked, "Yes hi," I said, "Okay so we do have Ava's car seat," she said, "Ok perfect I'll turn around thank you," I said, "No problem bye," she said hanging up the phone my music turned back on, and I changed it to kids music. I turned onto a different street and took it down to the day care centre, I got there and Mark and I got out, we walked inside, to see kids playing in the first room. The first room was for kids that were getting picked up with half an hour, and there were rooms farther back, including a preschool centre, and a lunch room and a playground, more play rooms, libraries stuff like that. I walked up to the concrete counter, Mark tugged on my jacket, "Can I go get Ava?" He asked, "Yes of course," I said, "Hi you must be Riley, I'm Claire," the lady said standing, she held out her hand and I took it shaking it, "Yes," I said, she looked to be in her late twenties early thirties. "Here's the car seat, and I'll just sign her out, "Mary can you get Ava Devin ready?" She asked a brown haired lady, the lady nodded and went further into the room. Claire clicked on a few things on the computer as Mary came out with Ava and Mark, and a bag. "Huh? Riles?" Ava questioned, "Hi Ava," I said, "Riles!" Se screamed jumping onto my legs, "Shh," I said putting my finger to my lips, she looked so happy, I really should pick these kids up more often, they are always so happy. "Mary put Ava's purple Dora bag and pink jacket in the car seat, "Here Mark can you help Ava with her jacket?" I asked handing it to him, he nodded and helped her put it on. It was March but, it was still pretty cold out on most days, although today it was 20 degrees. Claire handed me a envelope, "Here your mom can pay on Monday," She said putting it in the car seat as well, "Thank you," I said, picking up the car seat, "You have a nice day there," Mary said I followed the crazy kids out the door, Mark immediately opened the car door for me. I nodded and buckled up Ava's car seat I had to think for a moment before I remembered how to do it. I buckled Ava in and Mark got in, "Who wants ice cream?!" I yelled once we were on the road, "Me! Me! I do!" The screamed at the same time, "Okay is everyone okay with dairy cream?" I asked, "Yeah!" They yelled again, high diving each other, my phone started to ring and I picked it up, through my Bluetooth of course. "Hello?" I said, "Hi," mom replied, "Oh hey mom what's up?" I asked, "Okay so it's going to be about six by time I get home, if you guys get hungry just snack and there is a frozen pizzas in the freezer. Can you heat it up at 5:30?" She asked, "Of course mom," I said, "Okay, love you," she said and then hung up, she must be really busy. I went to dairy cream and got 3 small Oreo blizzards. "You guys be really careful okay?" I said, handing Mark them, "Okay," they said, Mark gave Ava hers and they went quiet eating them. I handed Mark some napkins, we got home ten minutes later, we lived in town but just inside the outskirts. It took me 7 minutes to get to school, if I was on time. So it wasn't bad, it was perfect, as I pulled up to our driveway I noticed a moving truck parked at the end of the next door driveway, new neighbours. I saw a motorcycle, and two other vehicles, including a SUV and a Ford Focus. "New neighbours!" Mark screamed fist pumping in the air. "What are neighbours?" Ava asked, "There people that live right beside you," I said, I heard her say oh. I grabbed my purse, and climbed out as Mark did too. I let Ava out and grabbed hers and Mark's car seats. Ava held the door open for me then slammed it, "Can we go meet the new people?" Ava asked as I set the car seat down, "Yeah let's go meet them!" Mark screamed, "Maybe," I said, "Let's just wait until the moving truck leaves," I said, it looked as though they moved in this morning, I only saw a few things in the moving van. I dumped my purse and math and physics textbooks on the counter. Before I sat in one of the spiny chairs to work on physics, I would do my homework in my room, but this way I can monitor the kids. It was 5 o'clock when the moving van left, the kids had been sitting on the couch waiting and as soon as it left, they ran over to me, "It's gone! It's gone!" They screamed yanking on my earbuds, "Ok, ok!" I said standing, "Don't you guys think we should wait for mom?" I asked, "No," they replied with pouty faces, and it was as if the gods told my mom to get home because she walked in the door. "Mommy!" Ava and Mark shouted, in unison, "My children!" Mom yelled, "Were they bad?" She asked, "No they stared out the window watching the moving van," I said, she walked over to the island, and slid five dollars across the counter I winked at her, and stuck it in my pocket. "Can we go meet the new people?" Ava asked," mom sighed a hint at a long day, "Okay," She said, she walked over to the fridge and grabbed a plate of cookies, "What are you doing?" I said, "We have to give them something to welcome them home, "Those are mine," I said, "Oh please, come on," mom said, I was really grumpy at this point, how dare she give away the amazing chocolate chip cookies. I followed them out the door, after I looked in the mirror, I looked semi good. We walked down the driveway and to the next driveway. Ava and Mark ran up to the front door, they knocked and mom and I jogged on the front door. The door opened and revealed a very handsome blonde haired, blue eyes guy, I started to feel really warm. Damn this boy is hot, "hi?" He asked, "Hi!" Ava said, he smiled flashing and amazing white toothed smile. "Hi we are your neighbours, and we just wanted to bring some cookies by to welcome you home," mom said, "Alec who's there?" A girl said, "Um some new neighbours," the boy, Alec, said, I heard footsteps and then the door opened more revealing a red haired lady with brown eyes, "Oh well hi there," she said, Alec disappeared, "Hi," my mom said, "I'm Judy Devin, we live right next door," mom said pointing to our house, "Oh well please come in," the lady said, "I'm Marie Rinder," The red haired women, Marie, said. "Hi Marie this is my oldest daughter Riley," I waved, "My son Mark, and my youngest Ava," Mom said pointing to each of us, "Oh kids come down we have guests!" Marie said turning. "Excuses the mess, perks of moving," Marie said, walking towards the kitchen everything was just like ours instead, of the stairs being in the middle of the house their on the left beside the living room. There was a thunder of footsteps coming down the stairs and revealed four beautiful child, including Alec. "This is my oldest Alec, these two are twins, Natalie and Benjamin, and my youngest Kimberly," Marie said, pointing to each of the children, I looked at each of them but, Alec was staring at me with a mischievous grin on his face. Marie dismissed the kids, and mom talked to Marie for a few minutes before we left, and walked back home. I collected my things and went upstairs to my room to do homework.

It was nine o'clock and the new neighbour, Alec was blaring music so loud I could hear it clearly, where was his parents, mom went out with the kids to go meet dad at the airport, I was trying to do math and this kid was making it hard for me to think. I opened my curtain a tiny bit, and peaked through to see three silhouettes in his curtains. A few minutes later mom got home and the kids came upstairs to go to bed, I ran downstairs and straight into dads arms I haven't seen him all week, "Dad!" I said, he squeezed me, "Kiddo!" He shouted kissing me on my forehead, we talked for a few seconds before I went upstairs to go and sleep, or try to which was impossible with all this noise. I woke up at 11:30 the next morning, dad had said he was going to hang out with the new neighbours today and mom was helping out Marie, making friends I assume. Yeah no way is that happening with me. I changed into some black lulu lemons and a t-shirt that has the Nike sign on it. I went downstairs to get some bacon and a hash brown which was on the stove awaiting my arrival, when I looked at the temperature, it said 23 degrees holy, I think it was finally summer. After breakfast I decided to go upstairs and work on some more homework and do nothing all day. I texted Jess,
Me: whatcha doing today??
Jess: helping my mom
Me: ugh I need more friends
Jess: aren't I enough??
Me: well yeah but what about when your busy
Jess: I know lol anyways gtg don't text me!!;):)
Arg now I have to go next door since I finished my homework, or I could try baking stuff, or I can watch movies or suntan! Yay I just came up with a whole bunch of stuff to do! I grabbed the novel I was reading The Promise Of Amazing By Robin Comstantine. It was a really cute romance novel I've read it three times now, I changed into a black strapless bikini with really skinny bottoms.

I grabbed a towel to lay on, and went outside on the back lawn to lay on the grass. I guess you could say we were richer, because we had a pool and a pretty big house, or pool was pretty small though it was at the back of the lawn and it was only the length of the back yard or width. I heard yelling and screaming coming from next door, and then splash! I looked up from my very comfortable position, to see that a volleyball was now floating in my pool, "Oh shit," I heard someone say, "Language!" I heard a little girl yell, I sat debating whether or not to get it. "Hey Riley is it?" I heard a voice say I looked over to the fence and covered my body in the towel, standing up. "Yes," I said, "Can you grab me that ball?" Alec asked, I looked over at the floating volleyball and pulled my hair up into a high ponytail. I did not want Alec to see this body, I slowly dropped the towel and put my toe into the water testing it before I emerged in. I heard wolf whistles from behind me and turned to see Dylan, Joe, Chase, and Kevin standing at the fence beside Alec. They were the schools hottest, and most popular guys. I mentally slapped myself and blushed, I turned away to go and get the ball. Once I got it I got out of the water and he eyed me up and down, I wrapped the towel around me and said, "It's Alec right?" The boys fist pumped, "You got it sweetie want my number?" He said, "Well Alec keep your ball on your side of the damn fence!" I said throwing the ball at his face, where it bounced off his head and landed in his yard.

Sunday 2:36 AM
"Oh shit!" I heard someone whisper shout, my eyes flickered open, I could hear blurring music I looked around my room and at my desk I saw Alec Rinder, he was standing there wide eyed with my black white polka dot bra hanging from his fingers, I jumped up. Buy he was already out the window and across the roof to his room, I saw Dylan and Joe high five him. "What the hell?!" I yelled across, "Give me my bra back!" I screamed, "You want it? Come and get it," Alec said, "I was half tempted to but, to scared because I probably looked like shit, and there was no way I could make that. That was my favourite bra it made my boobs look awesome. I groaned, slammed and locked my window and closed the curtains. I laid back in bed and fell asleep again, stupid teenage boys I barely know the guy.
