Chapter 29: The After Math

Monday morning had came and everyone knew about us, Sarah and Jess came over and they helped a lot with getting over him. They told me what I had did was good that the relationship was filled with stress, and I agreed. So when Monday came it wasn't as hard as in the begging it still hurt like a bitch but I was better, mom had complimented me. I checked for the fifth time this morning and Alec's windows and curtains were still closed, usually he'd call across to see if I needed a ride, that made me tear up. But I pushed past it promised to be strong on this first day back, plus there were only two weeks of school left and finals were finished, the summer dance was this Friday and then a fun filled week and after that my girls weekend. I hopped in my car and drove to school, I walked Ina and people were staring and whispering about me but, I continued to my locker where Jess and Sarah were standing. "You look much better," Jess commented, "Thanks you guys look good too," I said winking at them they giggled, then I heard more whispers and I turned around to see Alec walk into the school, he looked like he was in rough shape, I know he knew where I was but, he never looked at me. I turned back to the girls I cared a lot about our relationship but, it's over now and I grieved and I think I'm done. Since these were the last two weeks we had nothing to do so class was spent talking and the teacher blabbing about the next years classes. I sat in my regular seat and Alec sat on the other side of the room as usual since our breakup. "We should all go dress shopping," Sarah said, "Yeah that'd be fun," I commented, Alec glanced at me then looked away when he saw me see him looking at me. Lunch came and Alec sat across from me staring at me, it was awkward and I avoided eye contact because last week he just looked away hurriedly he wasn't eating either. "Dude you have to eat something," Dylan said placing a burger in front of him, he pushed it away, "Seriously I bought it for you, eat it," Dylan said, I liked at him then and he just returned the state, I glanced at the burger and then at his eyes again, "Riley tell him he has to eat," Dylan said I looked at him, the bell went and I went to my next class. The new guy was in schools and he was hot, dirty blonde hair, green eyes, athletic body, perfect and I met him after Alec and I broke up. We often went on walks together we both had dogs, his name was Adam Mason. We were becoming good friends, and Sarah said he might even be my rebound on Alec, I didn't count on it.       "Hey could I get a ride tonight?" Adam asked as I was grabbing my purse, I turned to look at him, "Sure," I said, he followed me out to my car opening the door for me and I thanked him.

"Want to go for a run with the dogs tonight?" He asked,

"Sure what time?" I asked

"Say after dinner, you still have my number?"

"Why would I delete it?" He laughed, we mostly just talked about walking the dogs nothing much or studying.

"Thanks Riley,"

"It's not a problem I mean I leave right across the street from you," I said he laughed again,

"See you later," he left and ran across the street. Inside I dropped my stuff at the island, tickled Ava, and kissed Mark on top of the head. Mom got shorter hours during the summer, she was trying to get the whole summer off. She only worked till two. "Hey Riles," mom said

"Hey mom,"

"How was school?"

"It was good," I said

"That's good how's Alec doing?"

"Fine we haven't talked, and I thought we weren't going to talk about it?" I asked grabbing a peanut and popping it in my mouth,

"Well yeah I just wanted to know how you two are interacting around each other,"

"Fine I guess, hey when's dinner going to be ready?"
