Chapter 16

 
   The night air was unmerciful against my shivering bare legs.

"You don't have to be here you know" Noah spoke low under his breath.
I rolled my eyes. "Of course I have to be here Noah, it would look suspicious if I didn't" I responded catching in step with every long stride he took.
Lilly was a few feet away with her fingers interlocked with her boyfriend's as they walked side by side.

Feeling the urge to grab Noah's I simply kept my gaze forward keeping my mind from such girlish thoughts.
We had met up with the herd of rebellious students eager to break the rules.

I took a deep breath calming my nerves. I just have to survive this and then I could go on.
The crowd was heavy with loud voices in conversation as we approached and they didn't seem to calming down anytime soon, that is until a tall lanky girl with fierce flaming red hair and striking green eyes purched up on a boy's shoulders and yelled out into the crowd.

The students instantly silenced eyes focused on the girl.

"Ladies and gentlemen" the ravishing girl spoke out into the audience.
Her eyes scanned the entire crowd even managing to land on me.
She kept them there for a few seconds before perusing on with her speech.

"Mustn't we act like wild animals. The council can not know of our disobedient ways. We must keep this clean and we must keep the number of deaths low if we want to continue this. Feed and nourish  yourselves, but be warned, if you cause a scene my crew and I will make it our duty to end you, got it" her malicious voice roared out into the lake of overly excited vampires.

"What does she mean by
'end you'?" I nudged Noah with my elbow.
He plundered on my question looking slightly uncomfortable before he answered in a simple one word response
"Death."

I turned to face him with a bewildered look.
"That's a little severe" I whispered my eyes finding the red head once again, a group of  students that looked just as intimidating flocked around her.

"Who are they anyway?" I asked.

"They're called the Red X, its just a group of vampires"
Noah had spoke as I kept my gaze on them.

"What makes them so special aren't they just like everyone else?" I said with a snort .

"They're not like everyone else, they're gifted. True descendants of the firsts vampires."

I look to Noah in shock.
Descendants of the first vampires.
It felt like I was learning something new everyday.

"So they're like a gang?" I asked shifting my gaze back to the vampires that seemed to hold all power.

Noah shrugs his shoulders looking off into space. His bright eyes glowing in the glorious moonlight and I couldn't help but to admire it. His beauty was effortless and I envied that.

"All I know is that their leader Beatrice keeps asking me to join them but I always reject. I don't want to be apart of that. I don't want my friends to be afraid of me" He surmised.

"Wait, they want you but I thought you said the group only contained descendants?" I inquired creasing my eyebrows as a smirk ceases his face.

"Your a descendant?!" I nearly holler and Noah has to place his hands over my mouth.

"Be quiet" he chided removing his hands from my mouth before slowly gliding them down my face.
