Ladies Of The Night

She didn't belong out there but that was the obvious,

The streets were her hunting-ground and the cars-her preys,

Freshly 21-young and fairly beautiful,

Wearing nothing but the motivation to feed her fatherless children,

Roaming the soulless nights trying to find where she belonged,

Made a twenty here and there,

But on special nights when a nice car would stop,

Maybe a hundred made while a tiny piece of her dignity would fade.

Then I met her.

I took her in.

Gave her children a father,

And gave her a ring,

Now she knows where she belongs,

And I accepted her for her wrongs,

Now we are happily making our wedding plans.
