The wind whistled past my ears loudly as I tried desperately to cover as much of my face as I could and still be able to see. Avoiding crashing into random objects I was able to get at least halfway down the road before it started to downpour soaking through my clothes making me shiver violently. just as quickly as the rain was hitting it was freezing, the coldness numbing my face worse than the cold wind had. The idea of going home and facing the problems with my dad started to fade more and more as my eyes fought to stay open through this bitter cold and I saw that I faced more problems being on the dark street alone than I did if I went home to my controlling father. If I don't get home within the next few minutes I might actually freeze to death. Since the beginning of my walk It has dropped about ten degrees and somewhere in the maze of my new neighborhood I have gotten lost.
Stuck in an area with no resemblance to home I decided that maybe leaving was the best. Getting out of my fathers controlling clutches has actually relaxed me. Just think if it was longer than the three hours I have been lost. I might be able to move forward and set a better life in motion than I had been headed to with my father making my decisions for me. Maybe by forcing his hand and making him give me space I will be able to show that I can be on my own even if just a little bit. I am no longer the broken little girl I was when I lost my mom. I am independent and I need to show it. If he babies me my entire life I will be just like everyone else that gets coddled until their future is smothered in thei parents arms.
I was just walking towards town to see if I could find a phone to call my friend and stay there for the night when there were headlights on the darkened street, something I had not seen in a while, and the first thought was to hitch a ride. Maybe I can get far enough from town that my dad can never find me and I can have a fresh start. I have friends in Litria that can help me get back on my feet. When I was little my parents used to tell me that it wasn't smart to get in cars with strangers but at this point it would be better than the alternative. Putting a thumb out the car stopped in no time at all.
As the blue car pulled up I realized the car held three guys, the driver had chocolate brown hair that covered his eyes and hung in his face, his brown eyes looked almost golden in the lights of the passing cars. he had a slight rocker look to him. The passenger was also dark haired with brown eyes but had a little stuble on his face from not shaving that made him look a little more rough around the edges.
In the back sat two other guys, a blond and one with black hair that was kind of longish but not quite a girly length, he was asleep whereas the blond was looking at me expectantly.
“Hello, earth to stranger are you alive in there?” The driver waved his hand in front of my face playfully, “You want a ride or not?”
Ashlynn looked at the driver and then at the ground, “I don't have anywhere to go, so I guess a ride would be pointless.” At seeing the car was full of potentially dangerous guys that could easily overpower her she had began to recoil back into her normal nervous self.
“Well you’re in the middle of a storm, you want to get in the car and you can stay with us at least until you get warmed up, you’re going to get sick in this weather.” She couldn't deny his logic, she really could get sick. Maybe she could make it through the night with them and leave first thing in the morning for Litria.
My green dress was short in the front and slightly longer in the back so it was definitely a lot colder than if I had been wearing jeans. It was also strapless and in my rush out the door I had forgotten my coat in the closet. I could only imagine how wild my long blond hair looked from all of the rain and wind. I nodded at the driver and the blond in the back seat got out to let me in to sit in the middle between him and the sleeping guy.
