The next morning was stressful. The paperwork had to be done for them to leave and they had to have another car seat because they weren’t prepared for twins. Cameron and Bryce went to buy one while Ashlynn and her parents filled out the necessary forms to get her released from the hospital. By noon she was allowed to leave, and glad too. Ashlynn was tired of all of the hospital food and couldn’t wait for something that actually had a taste.
Cameron helped load the babies into the car and they headed home to rest a little bit before the big dinner at her moms. They were having a get together so that the family could meet the twins. It was originally planned a month later but with the babies born early they moved the date up.
Ashlynn took Brayden and Bailey up the stairs to the nursery and put them in the same crib since they were asleep and turned on the baby monitor. She handed the monitor off to Cameron when he got out of the shower so that she could take one and he would hear if they woke up.
It was crazy how different the twins were even as babies. Brayden was small but fussy and Bailey was bigger and quieter. Brayden had emerald green eyes where Bailey had fluorescent blue eyes.
Ashlynn felt a lot better after taking her shower, she had been feeling quite dirty and this was the first shower she was allowed because her body needed time to heal. She pulled her bouncy curls into a french braid and went down to check on Cameron and the twins.
Cameron was asleep in the rocking chair in the nursery with the monitor in his lap. There was a giggle from the crib and when Ashlynn walked over it revealed an awake baby Bailey. She picked bailey up and carried her to the changing table and cleaned her up. She was put into a pink jumper and put in Cameron’s arms that had just woken up.
Brayden was not a happy baby when they woke him up to change him but easily quieted and fell asleep once placed in the car seat that was then put into the car. With the twins in the car and Cameron driving Ashlynn climbed into the passenger seat and they headed to see her parents.
Bryce had been invited to the dinner and showed up early just to hold a baby. He was closely watched but he took to babies well and had no problem holding and feeding Brayden. Bailey remained asleep until people started to show up. There was a lot of people congratulating them on the new addition to the family and even more passing the babies. After a while Ashlynn took Brayden and Bailey into her parents’ room where she had placed a bed for the twins and she put them there to sleep checking on them every few minutes to make sure everything was okay.
