PART THREE: Rescue

Ashlynn didn't know whether she should be excited that she was with the cops or scared because they picked her up selling drugs. With shaking knees she was put in the back of the police car. It was so cramped her knees were squished up against the front seat. She watched as Shayne was put into the back of another cop car and they drove away.

Upon entrance to the police station she was once again checked for weapons and led into a holding cell where she saw Shayne was seated.

“Officer Rogers will be here momentarily to do fingerprints and I.D. you. Until then sit down and no talking. And how old are you young lady? Do we need to call your parent or guardian?” the officer’s voice scared her at first then the words did.

“I’m 17 years old.”

“Alright Officer Rogers will be here soon.” the officer walked away answering his walkie talkie on the way out the door.

“Ashlynn you can't let them I.D. you. They will get me for kidnapping and I’m not going down today. You have to fight them.” just as his words ended another officer came into the room.

“Young lady first lets go.” he unlocked the door and, grabbing her by the arm, led her away.”

“First you will be fingerprinted. Do you have a name?” She looked at the ground she had no idea what to do. The officer ignored her silence and took her to the fingerprinting room. They scanned her finger and of course she popped up, she had a file for not ratting on the guy who shot her. This was different though because the machine started beeping and the officer started talking on his walkie talkie.

“Why is it beeping?” the officer laughed.

“It’s telling me you were kidnapped. You’re safe now though. I am calling for backup. The guy in the cell, is he the one who kidnapped you?” Ashlynn panicked and took off running. As soon as she opened the door she ran into a lady that immediately grabbed onto her to stop her from running.

“Ashlynn relax your safe. You’re going to get to go home.” the officer sounded so happy but all Ashlynn could think was that she definitely didn't want the guys to come after her once she goes back home.

The police immediately called her parents and moved her into the sheriff’s office. They thought she would be more comfortable.

“Because you were brought in from a drug deal I have to do a drug test no matter what so I need you to come with me,” he led her to a room that looked like a doctor’s office  where they took a blood sample and a strand of hair to take a drug test.  Then she was taken back to the other room.

“Before we get the results back, have you done drugs within the past month?” Ashlynn didn't answer. For some reason she couldn't get her voice to work. “Your parents are on their way.” and with that he left the room.

After sitting for a couple hours she had fell asleep with her head on the desk. She awoke to the sound of the door being opened. Her parents and the officer from before entered.

Her step-mother had dark lines under her eyes like she hadn't slept in a while. Her hair looked like she had run her fingers through it more often than not and her clothes were wrinkled like she had been sleeping in them.

“Mr. and Mrs. Nyte. I have good news and I have bad news. Good news your daughter can go home with you tonight but she was picked up during a drug deal and had to be tested. The amount of drugs in her system requires her to go to court to determine her punishment. If she tells you who she was kidnapped by we can also have them show up and we can sentence them as well. As of right now she isn't speaking.” her parents nodded and left to fill out paperwork. Ashlynn is now on her way home and hopefully to a better life.
