“What has gotten into your head? All you do is mope around anymore!” Cameron looked down at his feet and mumbled something incoherent. “What was that?”
“Sorry it’s nothing I just have a girl on my mind,” Shayne actually had the audacity to laugh.
“Why are you thinking about girls? I thought you were going to get ready for the party?”
“I’m not going, I don't have a date,” you could see that he was troubled about something when his eyes darkened like the sky when a storm rolls in. The darkness didn't bother Shayne though, he pushed on trying to free Cameron from the darkness that kept him home and away from fun. This state of depression is not good for his health.
“What's really bothering you Cameron? It’s not that you don't have a date, you never wanted a date before,”
Cameron began to shake his head, “This girl is different, and yesterday when I was in town I saw her in her yard chasing a young child around. She was so beautiful. She had honey blond hair that reminded me of sunshine on a warm summers day so curly and soft looking I just wanted to run my fingers through it. She had a perfect figure like she did a lot in a day and didn't just sit around like a normal teenager. Her porcelain skin looked so soft to the touch I could barely resist her. I wanted to go talk to her because she was just so beautiful,” his eyes now looked distant like he was in a trance or remembering a very fond memory.
“Cameron, you need to go get ready! The party will start without you,” Cameron looked wounded at the thought of going out and having fun.
“Nah Shayne, I think I will stay in tonight,” Shayne was tired of watching his friend mope around, he had been doing it all week, and decided to do something about it.
“Okay then Cameron, I will call Bryce to help and we will go get her. I can't stand seeing you like this. You’re like a brother to me and I hate seeing you like this. You need to get out of this funk you seem to be stuck in and if getting her will help lets go get her,” as Shayne left the room to call Bryce Cameron followed asking what he meant by ‘go get her’. Are they going to go ask her to go to the party? Or are they going to do something stupid and crazy?
Bryce pulled up in his sleek black sports car and they all climbed in not wasting a moment’s time. With Cameron in the front seat giving directions they easily found her house, darkened because of the hour. They parked the car across the street and studied the house. They looked for windows, doors, things that they can use to get inside the house with the least amount of noise and takes up the least amount of time.
It was a grayish blue two story house, a very nice house in a very nice neighborhood. There weren't very many trees so they would have to be quick to get inside or else they would look suspicious. After opening the door and getting out you could hear music coming from the open upstairs window. That must be the girl’s room! The preppy music that flowed through the air was definitely something a girl would listen to.
They needed to find a way in. Bryce was too giggly so they left him in the car for a quick getaway. He would be ready to drive at a moment’s notice for if something bad happened. Shayne took one side of the house, Cameron the other, so they could find a way in.
By the time they got around the house Cameron had noted an open window in the kitchen and the loose handle on the back door. Deciding the kitchen window was easiest, because it was unlocked and a bush blocked the view of neighbors so they had the least chance of being seen. They began creeping back towards the kitchen window keeping low to the ground. Sticking to the shadows was an easy task with the old Victorian house being so tall. The window slid open easily and they were inside the house quickly and quietly as they had wanted.
While looking for the stairs the two came across a note on the fridge explaining that the girl was to order a pizza for dinner because the parents wouldn’t be home till late tomorrow. The timing was actually quite perfect because now they don’t have to worry about running into the parents and getting caught. After locating the stairs they easily and silently went up towards the room playing music. Shayne swung the door open and with a rapidly beating heart, he entered the room.
Upon seeing the girl asleep on her bed the guys began to grin triumphantly. This was going to be so easy. Shayne went to the side of the bed to try and figure out the best way to pick the girl up without waking her up and Cameron packed some of her clothes. Picking her up bridal style Shayne easily carried her down the steps out the front door to the awaiting car. The guys were shocked that she hadn't woken up. They carried her down the narrow stairway and through the kitchen and all the twists and turns to get out the front door.
The girl was put in the back seat with Cameron. Shayne, after calming the excited Bryce down, climbed into the passenger seat and the black car sped off into the night, blending into the shadows all except for the bright red tail lights glaring angrily back at the quiet neighborhood that remained as though it were asleep unknowing of the now missing part to the neighborhood, the girl.
Cameron had almost fallen asleep when he heard a whimper beside him. He turned to see the girl with a tear streaked face pushing herself up against the door and as far away from him as possible. He tried to calm her but she was too scared. He decided to act as harmless as possible so he closed his eyes and leaned back into the seat. He heard her sniffles a little while longer before the guys got tired of it and turned up the radio. If Cameron wasn't listening for her to make a noise he would have missed her hiccups.
Cameron reached into his pack on the floor board and got out his soda from earlier that same day, “Here drink this it will help with the hiccups,” She took the bottle and opened it like she was going to take a drink but instead of putting it to her lips and sipping the cool liquid she dumped it on Cameron’s head. He had known something would happen; she was too scared of him to trust that bottle didn't have poison in it.
He tried to remain calm and told the guys to pull over. On the side of the road he got out and went to the trunk to find a dry shirt. After switching into something dry he climbed back in and they resumed driving.
“I’m glad to see you have a spark, that’s probably why Cameron likes you, but don't do that again or you will wash the inside of this car with a toothbrush understood?” the girl nodded and that was the end of discussion for a while.
About halfway home the car once again came to a stop, this time outside of a gas station. Shayne told her not to do anything stupid and got out into the chilly October night air to pump gas.
“You want anything? Something to drink, or maybe to eat?” She shook her head no to Camerons offer.
“You sure? We are barely half way there,” Bryce’s voice from the front seat made her jump and he apologized for startling her. She shook her head again and so Cameron went in to get something to drink while Shayne went to pay for the gas.
The girl was feeling like she was trapped in a never ending nightmare, she felt like she was going insane but she knew she wasn't. She couldn’t quite come to terms with everything going on but she figured that was normal with the shock of being kidnapped.
