“I understand you are eight weeks pregnant correct?” Ashlynn nodded, she was feeling nervous.
“This is your first child right?” The nurse was being kind and talking soothingly as she got her supplies out.
“Yeah,” Ashlynn’s answer was quiet but it was there.
“Well I will tell you what to expect then okay? First I am going to weigh you, then I will check your blood pressure, lastly I will measure your abdomen so that we can monitor it. After all of that we can hook up a sonogram so you can hear its heartbeat.”
Ashlynn stepped up on the scale. She was surprised to see she was already gaining weight. After checking her blood pressure which was normal, they measured her belly.
“You shouldn't be showing any at this point because the baby is still small,” as she pulled her shirt up to reveal her soft tummy the doctor smiled and told her she was showing early. They took measurements and began the sonogram.
There was a weird noise.
“That’s your babies heartbeat, its faster than an adults but its normal though it does sound like it might be echoing. I will be right back, I am going to go get the head nurse and see what she says,” The nurse left for a few minutes and Ashlynn was beginning to feel nervous. Cameron moved closer to hold her hand and asked her mom if the echo was normal.
The nurse came back with another lady. She explained she was Mrs. Nicole and she was the head nurse at this hospital. She listened to the heartbeat and then started to but a jell on Ashlynn’s belly and told me she was going to do an ultrasound.
“The baby looks to be developing fine, but I want you in here in exactly one month to check things back out. Until then you are on strict bed rest, no stressing. Your young for being a mom and your body might not be ready to handle this child. Make sure you get on prenatal vitamins so that we know you are getting nutrients,” after her mom had a discussion with the nurse they went to schedule another appointment and head home.
First thing after she got home Cameron and her mother had her sit on the couch. They are making her stay downstairs so she doesn't have to go up and down them to go to the bathroom. She sat on the couch watching a movie a total of ten minutes before she got bored. she tried to get up to go upstairs and find her book but Cameron made her stay sitting and went to get it for her.
