Chapter Twenty Eight

*Kyler*

"Now, as much as I'll miss you I want to see you happy. You're my only friend," Hunter smiled at me
"People will go looking for you. So we stage your death. Do you still have your other body? That's a sentence id thought I'd never say," he chuckled
"The one I left after defeating Zenix? Yea," I said snapping and it appeared floating in front of us on the sand
"Perfect. All we gotta do is put it in your guard armor. And stick a sword in your chest," he said
"What sword? We can't use mine or yours," I said
"We'll make one," he smiled
"You're a blacksmith too?!" I asked
"I have a lot of secret talents," he winked
"We'll get to work then mister!" I laughed snapping making the body disappear again and he ran off.

"Do you like?" He asked showing me the sword in the top of the guards tower
"Oh my god! That's perfect!" I said looking at the carefully designed sword
"It's an exact replica of the swords that Hila, Phoenix drop's oldest enemies, use," he said handing it to me
"Wow. We're gonna start a war." I said
"Don't worry, they're already in one... How did you not know this?" He asked
"Again, I don't think Aph trusts me," I sighed
"Right. Well go pack a bag... You have to go and die soon," he chuckled.

I walked into my house. I walked down into my bedroom and grabbed my backpack.

I opened my closet and grabbed my scarf. The one thing I used to cover up my ugliest imperfection.

I hadn't worn it in forever. I sighed and shoved it in the bag. I grabbed my weapons and put them inside as well.

I dug around in my desk drawer for my map. I the looked around for anything else I'd need or want for memories.

One of Dante's shirts laid on my floor. I don't know how it got here but Im keeping it.

I picked it up. It smelt like him. I smiled and put it in the bag.

I also grabbed a blanket and put it inside. I'm glad this bag had lots of room.

I walked back upstairs and packed food. I also grabbed water bottles.

As I opened the cupboard for food I noticed a note on the counter. I picked it up and read it.

"Kyler,

I know this is cheesy and all but I'm all about cheesy. And you know it too. You know everything about me and that's what makes you so special. I can open up to you and you can open up to me. That's the kind of relationship I want... I love you and I know you love me... That night on the guards tower made me feel a way I've never felt, and I loved it... So let me be cheesy once again and ask, will you be my girlfriend? I'll see you when I get back beautiful. If you're there at the gate when I get back I'll know it's a yes.

My heart sunk. I'd be gone before he came back.

I could just imagine it. He'd walk up with the others expecting me to be there.

He might think I didn't get the news that they were almost back. He'd still have hope.

They'd get inside the village and he'd look for me. Hunter would go up to him and break the news.

He'd be crushed. Laurence would be crushed. Garroth would be crushed.

Why am I doing this? I love them so much. But staying here won't make me happy.

There was a small handmade bracelet under neath the note. It was made out of leather and had detailed carvings in it.

I put it on and folded the note. I stuck it in my bag as well.

I exited my house and looked around. No one was around. I ran back to the tower.

"So you're positive you want to do this?" He asked and I looked down at the bracelet
"Yes," I nodded and sighed.

I snapped my fingers and my body fell on the sand in front of us. Hunter poured some fake blood around my body.

He left a trail onto the docks. He then threw a bottle with a bunch of gold in it into the water.

It sunk. He would say that the Hila guards came and killed me after I tried fighting them off from stealing.

"Here," he said handing me the sword.

I closed my eyes and pierced my other body's chest. Hunter put fake blood around the wound.

"Thanks Hunter, I'll miss you," I said hugging him
"I'll miss you too, and hey if you ever become lord or queen of someplace I'll be right there to become you're guard," he winked
"Promise?" I giggled
"Promise," he laughed and then my face got serious
"Bye," I said hugging him again tightly, he hugged back
"Please be safe," he said.

I nodded and wiped a tear away. I turned and ran. I ran for the woods.

Soon Rex was flying by my side. I smiled at him and he made a wyvern noise.

I'm glad I wouldn't he totally alone.

I'm sorry Laurence. I'm sorry Dante. I'm sorry Garroth. In sorry Zane. I'm sorry.

But for now I need to leave.

And hide in the Shadows.
