Don't ever take a fence down until you know why it was put up. - Robert Frost
Two Weeks Later...
Imani...
I sat in the courtroom with my lawyer, impatiently waiting for Marcus to arrive. He was so quick to shove this lawsuit down my throat, and he's not even here. He should of been here mocking me like he's been doing for the past weeks. I took the advice of bringing guards with me, especially since the shit that happened to India.
I looked at the time on my watch, seeing it 10:25 in the morning. Marcus was suppose to be here an hour ago. What is the hold up?
"Your Honor this is ridiculous. Court started an hour ago, where is Mr. Green?" My lawyer Reeves questions.
"That's a good question Mr. Lakes. Ms. E?" The judge says. We all put our attention her as she looks through papers, and her phone rings.
"May I?" She questions. The judge nods, and she excuses herself. I tap my pen against my notepad, sighing in aggravation. I'm just ready to get this over with.
"If Mr. Green doesn't show up in the next fifteen, I'll have to award the lawsuit to Ms. Gomez." The judge sighs. I nod felling my phone vibrate in my pocket. I take it out, revealing a text from an unknown number furrowing my brows. I stand up, holding my chest as I looked around the courtroom. Everyone is on their phone, and could be anyone.
"I need to leave." I mumble, feeling overwhelmed.
"What did you say?" Reeves questions. I wipe the tears, packing my things.
"I said I need to leave. I don't feel comfortable." I sigh.
"Imani you can't leave now. We're ten minutes away from winning this lawsuit." He whispers, gently grabbing my wrist. I snatch away him as the guards approach me. I hold my hand up to tell them I'm fine.
"Reeves." I sigh before continuing.
"It's just a lot of crazy things going on right now ok. Can't we get it postponed or something?" I question. He sighs telling me to wait here, so I take a seat. I check my surroundings, chewing my lip in nervousness. All these questions boggled my brain. Rushing of clacked heels catch my attention. I see Marcus' lawyer run in, catching her breath.
"Marcus is dead." She pants.
"What!" I exclaim standing to my feet.
"Oh my. How did this happen?" The judge questions. Esmeralda holds her chest, swallowing hard.
"He was on his way here, driving down from Hollywood hills from his home. He was speeding of course and some how crashed. The police are still investigating." I sit back in disbelief, shaking my head. Of course this nigga dies on the day I was getting ready to expose his ass. It's all good though, at least I know he wasn't getting my money.
"Well, I hear by rule in favor of the defendant. Case dismissed." I sigh heavily, standing to my feet and thank the judge. While leaving, of course cameras and shit flashed like they did this morning when I arrived. Bully opens the backdoor for me, and I climb in. I got a flight to catch to New York for a video shoot.
I really can't believe that Marcus is gone. He was just here, threatening me and calling me out of my name and now he's gone. Marcus wasn't shit, I agree but damn. A car accident, that shit just doesn't sound right. Somebody had to be after him.

Imer...
Since we came back from the Caymen Islands two days yesterday, everybody went back to work except me. I took off because I needed the rest, plus I didn't feel like hollering at no damn body. I huffed when I hear my phone ring, knowing it couldn't be nobody but my mom calling for the seventh time today.
