Sometimes you can't figure out the truth because you're asking people that are emotionally or socially invested in you to be brutally honest. Often family or friends will tell you what you want to hear, or what they want to believe because of their emotional investment in the situation. Instead of circling the drain with biased speculation, go out and get twenty unbiased people that have nothing to lose if they speak their mind and then ask them what they think. After you do that, stop asking for people's perspectives. Accept their answer because you're not going to ever know the real truth when the person you love lies to you. Sometimes, you only have the truth of commonsense when the unbiased majority has offered you their opinion. When we care about people, we will believe the most far-fetched fantasies to help us deal with our actions, their actions and the conversations we missed out on. Our intuition then becomes compromised. You should never put your life on hold, in order to decide what the truth is. The memory of truth no longer remains pure in the mind of a liar. - Shannon L. As my family sat and conversed, I look out at the view of the water. I should be happy and celebrating my graduation, but I feel kind of down in the dumps tonight. Derwin had a game out in Cleveland, so of course he couldn't come see me graduate. It sucks because everybody has their best friend by their side. But I don't have mine. We're also at one of his favorite restaurants, Cast & Plow. I made reservations for us here because of him, but I forgot about the game.

"What's the matter baby girl?" My father questions, licking the barbecue sauce off his fingers. I laugh, shaking my head.

"I'm fine daddy."

"No you're not. I can see it all over your face." He chews, forking some shrimp off my mom's plate. She sighs heavily as my dad and uncles laugh. Childish.

"She misses Derwin." Uncle Cornelius teases. I roll my eyes, picking over my food.

"Oh you go with Derwin? Derwin RockMoore from the 49ners?" Penelope's boyfriend excites.

"Yea." I smile.

"I think someone's in love." My mom sings. I playfully roll my eyes and shake my head in the other direction. She always thinks someone is love with somebody.

"I'm not in love ma." I dryly whine.

"Could of fooled me. You not eating, smiling and blushing when Franco mentioned his name. That's the same way your mom feels about a nigga when I'm gone." My mom rolls her eyes.

"No I'm actually happy when your ass is away from me. I get to eat, sleep and relax just fine." She shrugs. My dad smacks his lips, screw face.

"Why you always frontin'?"
