Chapter 16: Grave Threats

Drix's POV:

The following day, we went to school. Carlo had to stay in the hospital to be observed, continually. But, he would probably be back next week.

What I'm worried about, is that Carlo's the Captain Ball of the Basketball team. If he can't play, who'll take his place in the mean time?

I sighed in frustration. It was free time and our next class doesn't start until after 2 hours.

Lumabas muna kaming ng barkada. At nakatambay kami ngayon sa isang nearby coffee shop.

Martin: Alam nyo? I think may idea ako kung sino ang may gawa nito Kay Carlo.

We all looked at him in surprise.

JL: Sino naman?

Martin: Sino pa ba? Eh di si Darwin. Sya lang naman ang taong may galit sa atin di ba?

Somehow, he's got a point. Pero, I don't immediately jump to conclusions. Kailangan ko ng concrete evidence para masabi kong tunay yan. Though, it's quite believable dahil galit sya samin. Yet, I'm still skeptical for some reason.

I noticed something strange. Lianne has been quiet ever since Carlo's injury. Though silent naman talaga sya madalas, there is something different about her silence. Usually, she has a book in her hand when she's not talking or she would just plainly smile at us. But, her expression is saying something else.

Parang may alam sya na di namin alam.

Genny: Nareport ko na rin sa mga professors natin ang absence ni Carlo. If pwede satin, tutulungan natin syang humabol sa mga lessons natin.

Bel: I'm sure di na sya.kelangan I tutor sa Math. Sobrang galing na nya dun.

Me: Hey Lianne. You look so bothered. Ok ka lang?

Her head quickly looked up.

Lianne: Ah, eh. Oo naman.

Pansin na namin yung crack ng boses nya. The indicator na nagsisinungaling sya.

Me: You sure? You know that we can tell if you're lying.

Her expression gave it away. She knows something we don't.

You might be wondering how I can read people. Being an introvert was the reason. I usually stay away from large crowds and I observe the people. I've gotten so good at it, I can tell if a person lies or tells the truth. A perfect example would be Lianne's behaviour. Her expressions and body language gave her away.

Lianne: Guys, kasi... Ano...

She trailed off. This means she can't say the truth as of now.

Me: Alright. I won't impose on you. If you're ready, just tell us.

She gave us all a weak smile.

Now this made me curious. Anong alam ni Lianne?

Lianne's POV:

Hindi ko masabi sa kanila. Natatakot ako. Anong gagawin ko?

Flashback

Lumabas na ko ng hospital. Uuwi na sana ako ng makita ko sya. Ang gunman. Nakaabang lang sya.

Ang masama nito, nakita nya ako.

Tumalikod agad ako. Hastily walking to the other way.

Pero sinusundan pa rin nya ako. I have to escape.

Bigla nyang hinawakan ang kamay ko.

I was about to cry for help, pero tinakpan nya lang ang bibig ko.
