Ch 13 The scary truth of the truth it's self

Everyone stood up to get a better look at what had happened. Their was another scream and i saw a girl jumping away from her table. People moved from the spot, like a snake had suddenly slithered into the room and was looking for an easy meal. Then whatever it was got to the front of the room and i could see it. It was an Artic Fox. It white coat gleaming as it walked, its tail swaying slightly and it's eyes looking around the room.

The fox sat at Lucas's feet and he looked down at it. He didn't even flinch away from it or look alarmed. He actually looked calm and right at home. The Fox then laid down at his feet, it's eyes grazing over the room. When it's eyes past me i felt something stir and i felt my body tense. A growl rang though my head but no one else seemed to hear it. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath,calming my self. Well, i tried. The second my eyes closed something moved in the darkness of my eye lids.

It was a wolf. My Wolf. It's dark eyes fixed on me, it was growling. The in lowered it head and the growl deepened. The it quickly lifted it's head, it's nose lifting into the darkness above it and it let out a loud howl. My eyes snapped open and i flinched at the almost pain it caused. I shuddered at it and fisted my hand. The howl rang though my head like a favorite song, though this one was like a song you didn't want there.

"Kat?" Bianca's voice cut though the sound slightly. The howl slowly faded as i heard her say my name. I turned to her, the sound fading from my head and i could hear the hush which had descend on the room.

"Yeah?" i ask my voice sounding slightly breathless.

She looked at me for a while, searching my eyes. "Are you okay?"

"Fine" my answer was strait forward and i hoped it was believable. Bianca nodded slowly then looked back to Mr Connin who was watching us. I tried to ignore everyone's stares and focused on Mr Connin and not the Fox at Lucas's feet. When no one spoke i looked around. "I'm fine" Even to me i sounded a little clipped and bitter.

Mr Connin didn't say anything about it though. Instead he turned to the Fox at Lucas's feet. "That, it a Vampires Essence, Lucas's Essence. Or, his sport. A Vampires Essence, when out, is an animal. The animal representing the Vampire themselves. the Vampires Essence may change while they grow, but it stays the same animal. Lucas's fox may once have been a Red Fox, or even gray. There Essence changes with the person"

"It was black" Lucas suddenly says from where he was. "Then got White markings till it was suddenly white"

Mr Connin nodded and moved around the room slightly watching people. "Anyone have any guess's what Lucas's personality may be?" he asked the room. No one moved again. Mr Connin smiled then, not his sly smile that said 'I-Know-Something-You-Don't', it was a smile smile. "I didn't think yous would. Even the Vampire themselves will never truly understand why they have the animal they do"

My eyes drifted to the Fox as it lowered it's head onto it paws. The Fox looked around, it's eyes looking around lazily. It's ear twitched and i couldn't help but feel the tug on my lips. I couldn't help but think the fox looked adorable. The Fox's eyes flashed to me again and i felt something stir inside me again. I didn't hear the growl or, thankfully, the howl of my wolf. But i did suddenly feel restless and itched to move. I shifted in my seat, the Fox studding my even move.

"I wanna pat it" a girl behind me said to someone next to her.

"Me too" The otter person giggled softly.

Suddenly the fox stood up and trotted towards our tables, slipping between other people tables. The fox trotted past me, it's eyes sliding over me slightly. I turned around in my seat to see the fox look up at the girls then crouch and jump onto the table. It landed silently and walked between the two girls who looked at Lucas then reached out and stroked the fox like it was a cat and not a, well, fox. "It's so soft!" one girl exclaimed.

The other girl nodded and suddenly pulled the fox into her arms as other people moved closer, also wanting a pat. I just sat were i was next to Bianca and watched the fox squirm in the girls arms. It let out a little sounded and wriggled. I glanced at Lucas. The fox was apart of him so i wondered how he was reacting. When i turned around he was looking annoyed and his jaw was set. Mr Connin was looking between the fox and Lucas looking worried.

I suddenly jumped when something landed on our table. It was the Atric fox, the light caught it's fur perfectly making it look as if it glowed. Bianca stared at it her eyes looking a bit shocked but she looked calm as always. The fox shook it's self as if trying to get something off, then it straitened and looked at me. I watched it watch me. It eyes were icy blue and seemed to look though me. Just like Lucas's eyes i noticed. That's probably what was unsettling me.

Knowing Lucas was practical in front of me, but at the same time he was cross the room. The fox then broke the connection with our eyes and jumped to the next table. I shivered. Something inside me stirred again and i heard a faint growl. The fox jumped to the next table then fell off the table towards the floor. Someone yelp as if it hurt them but the fox then returned to my view as it made it's way softly back to Lucas.

Mr Connin told us more things about Vampires spirits and what they could do, when they could be brought out and such. It was acutely interesting. I was suddenly glad this school wasn't like a normal school, no maths, no English, no science. It was more interesting. The bell rang over the school. "We'll be continuing this tomorrow. Sit down!" Mr Connin said as everyone stood up. "I have a question. Anyone here a wolf with a free period next?"

I sat their looking at everyone looked at their timetables. "Kat has a free!" Bianca shouts suddenly. My head snapped to Bianca who was holding my timetable.

"What? How'd you get that?" I snatched it back frowning at her.

"I have my secrets" She grinned and stood up.

"Kat, can you come here please" Mr Connin says loudly as everyone makes their way to the door. As i walk towards Mr Connin i see Lucas's fox change, like was made of smoke. The image of the fox became transparent and it sank to the floor no longer a fox and more just a pile of clearing white smoke. It slowly faded from view and was gone. "Can i ask you something Kat?" Mr Connin says sounding like he was talking to a kid.

"Yeah, but don't talk to me like i'm a child" my eyes flick to him and he smiles slightly.

"Can you come to my next class, it's for a Vampire study class, i need someone of each....i need a Wolf for class for a simple task. Can you help with that?" Mr Connin asks and clears his throat.

"...Ugh...sure" i frown at him a bit. Why would they need a Wolf for a vampire class.

"I'll explain as we head over" Mr Connin says and starts towards the door, Lucas trailing us easily.
