"Your all going to get a partner for the next activity. Were going into an older class, one of the Vampire classes and you have to take notes about the Vampires Spirit. Such as what they spirit is and it's color what it's eye color is and anything else. And next week when we come in were going to do some research" Mr Connin says from the front of the room. He scanned the room, his dark eyes grazing the room silently. "Okay, lets go"
A few minutes later and we were in the middle of a class room. As we stood there Mr Connin sorted out partners. I was only half paying attention, my eyes on the floor. The Wolf stirred again, irritating me. Every time i was near a vampire or some times just next to a witch or something the Wolf stirred. I was wishing i could just contain it. Lock it in a box or something. At that thought the Wolf stirred again, this time so much i mentally yelled at it to stop. With a soft growl the Wolf settled and i saw as i closed my eyes the Wolf laying down, the black background contrasting against the other part of me.
"Kat" Mr Connin waved a hand in my face. "We would like it if you came back to earth now"
"Sorry" I shake my head clear of the fog.
Mr Connin's smile was warm and gentle. He then motioned for me to take a seat. I looked at the person who would be my partner and mentally groaned. Lucas sat in the chair, his eyes focused on Mr Connin, his face blank and his eyes blue flames. I walked over to the seat next to him, my feet silent on the floor. The sound of people talking was giving me a headache and my Wolf wasn't helping. The second i sat down the Wolf stirred slightly but then went silent as if it got that i wasn't in the mood.
I brushed off how weird it was that the Wolf listened to me now but not when i wanted to change. Or maybe she did, but refused my demands. I lowered my head onto the table, my eyes closing. "You look so excited" Lucas's voice was calm, seeming like he didn't even have to try and sound sarcastic even when his voice was flat. I glanced at him from under my curtain of hair.
"Yeah, i feel like i could i'm about to start jumping off the walls from excitement" Sarcasm filled my voice and hit the space between us.
I finally saw Lucas's mask break and fall away. His eyes danced with amusement as they glowed and his lips tilted up into something close to a smile. "Are we just going to sit here or do work?" He turned away from Mr Connin who he had been staring at this hole time and his eyes moved to me. I closed my eyes and turned my head to the table, the memory of last nights trance suck in my head. I didn't want to be powerless just by looking at Lucas, not again.
"Is sleeping an option?" I ask.
"I wish" Lucas voice too was filled with amusement. Silence stretched out between us but the room around us was load with noise, people talking over the work and others....well, lets just say their talking about other things. Something cold and wet touched my cheek and i glanced under my hair at the fox. It's icy eyes burned like lights. It was laying on it's stomach, head resting on it's front paws and looking at me with big adorable eyes. I almost cursed at it for making me smile.
"I hate it when you do that" I sit up brushing the hair from my face.
"Why? Cause you can't resist it's cuteness" Lucas's voice was playful.
"I thought a Vampires Spirit's supposed to be another vision of the Vampire. Someone obviously messed up with you, your not so cute and cuddly" I retort and stroke the Fox's head.
"I'm so offend" Lucas say mockingly and the Fox suck it's nose in the air and turned away, it's tail flicking like it was saying 'get out of my face'. I laughed softly and rubbed it's head. The fox gave a little growl and turned back around and laid on the table, it's small body laying on my book. I laughed as it rolled onto it's back like a dog would. The Wolf inside me stirred gently, like it was kinda jealous but didn't want to say anything.
I stroked the Fox's neck, just under it's ear and right on it's jawline. It gave a content growl and Lucas shifted. "I wish you would do that all day" Lucas says out of the blue and when i look at him his eyes were closed and he was leaning back in his chair looking about to fall asleep. I tapped the Fox's nose wondering how Lucas's would take it. I was surprised when he gave a soft growl, the Fox shifted like it was trying to get comfortable.
Carefully i push the fox off my books and open it to a new page. The Fox stands up and looks down at the book the back to me, blue-gray eyes watching me. I started taking notes but after about 20 seconds the Fox was nuzzling my hand and trying to get attention. "Get your ass off my book" I playfully hit it which only makes it whine and lay across my book and on my arm. It's eyes look up at me saying 'pat me'.
Lucas chuckles to himself as if saying 'you think i would listen to you? nice try'. I roll my eyes at his fox then look at Lucas but am distracted by something behind him. It was a tiger. A girl with short brown hair smiled and was talking to Emily. The tiger was different then a normal one though, it's eyes were golden and it's main coat was a midnight black, a soft tint of blue in it's fur and it's strips were a silvery white. Emily was stroking the tigers head and neither the girl nor the Tiger seemed to mind. In fact the girl looked like she was having a hard time concentrating, her eyes drifting shut every few seconds before snapping open again like she was trying not to fall asleep.
"Hay Lucas. When someone pats or scratches your Animal Spirit does it..." I trailed off not knowing the right word.
"Feel good?" he offers. "Yeah. It's strange, but you'll know what i mean when you change and someone scratches your head" he smirks and looks at the fox which hopped off my arm and crawled into my lap. I scratched it's head while i wrote, which was hard since it kept nuzzling my other arm wanting more attention. I told Lucas off a few times for it but all he did was grin or laugh until finally i gave up.
I leaned back in the chair, my hand unconsciously patting the Fox which was still curled in my lap. "I didn't know your Spirits could have different eye color's" i say glancing around the room. Their was a rabbit who had wild orange eyes with flecks of white though it and an eagle who had hot pink eyes. All the animals looked different, even the two birds, both eagles looked different. Color wise and body wise. It was enough to make me dissy
"Yeah. Some do, they always tell a different thing about the person. You will never get two eyes the exact same. You may have two people that my have green but it's going to be a different shades and different patterns and fleck colors"
I look at Lucas who was leaning back in his seat, eyes closed and head leaning back. I started at the Vampire wondering how i could have been scared last night. He didn't look scary, he looked safe. It wasn't til he opened his eyes and looked at me that i remembered why. It was his intense gaze and the way it seemed to make you loose control over your own body. I couldn't break our gaze but i was thankful it wasn't like last nights. My fingers still moved though the Fox's coat and i could breath properly....almost.
The bell rang and i snapped out of it. The fox in my lap jumped onto my books and within seconds seemed to dissolve into fog and vaporized. I collected my books as Lucas stood up. He was easily a head taller which didn't help my suddenly nervous feeling. I noticed the Wolf inside me was completely still, like it wasn't there, but then it stirred gently making sure i was aware of it. I didn't ponder on the thought that it hadn't done anything the whole class. Instead i walked away from Lucas's calling goodbye over my shoulder.
