Alpha Kappa delta. You'd only been on the college campus for a few days now, but you'd already heard the name being tossed around by just about everybody you'd met. They were all talking about who was going to the fraternity's "kick off the school year, goodbye summer!" party on Sunday. Even your roommate Mae was talking about it, how excited she was to finally meet some cute fraternity boys. According to those you'd talked to, Alpha Kappa Psi was not only well known for being home to some of the most competitive business majors at the university, it was also notorious for throwing the best parties.Still, you were hesitant to go. It's not that parties weren't your thing. It's just that, the idea of showing up to your first day of classes tired or potentially hungover was not the most appealing. And you didn't really fancy the idea of grinding up against drunk, horny frat boys all night. Not to be pre-judgemental but they didn't seem like the most respecting of types. You'd have to be careful.
However, after some careful persuasion on behalf of your roommate, you found yourself walking up the the front door of a very large, very daunting house that particular Sunday night. The party was already in full swing by the time you and Mae arrived. People were standing outside on the wrap around porch, drinking beer out of plastic cups, a few people were even passed out on the front lawn already. Music was blaring through the open windows and doors, the bass nearly making the house shake. Carefully stepping around a couple of boys sitting on the front steps, you managed to make it inside.
Now, when you say everyone was there, you truly meant it. It felt as though every student who had ever set foot on your campus was there because the house was packed as tight as a can of sardines. Mae managed to muscle her way through the crowd, clutching onto your hand as she did so, not even bothering to apologize to the party goers whose feet were being stomped on. After fighting through the crowd of people, the two of you made it to the kitchen, somewhat still alive, but with all limbs intact.
"I really need a drink if I'm going to survive even an hour of this," you had to shout over the sound of the music and people talking in order to even hear yourself. The air was heavy with smoke from a group of people in the living room, smoking weed. The stench of alcohol and sweaty bodies was wafting through your nose, making you wrinkle it in disgust. Mae squinted through the clouded room to look at you, "Yeah, I'm definitely going to need a couple," she agreed.
Two boys were already standing at the makeshift bar mixing drinks, so the two of you stood back and waited to take your turn. Both were dressed in all black, from the cliche black snapbacks all the way down to the black shoes. One of them was wearing a black cutoff shirt to show off the tattoos adorning his beautiful brown skin, while the other was just wearing a plain black long sleeve with the sleeves pushed up to his elbows. The muscles of their backs rippled under the fabric of their shirts as they moved about. Before they had a chance to turn around, you and Mae caught each other's eyes, indicating that you both knew they belonged to this fraternity, meaning they were at least a year, if not two, older than you both.
The brown boy seemed to take notice of your presence then, as he turned around and flashed you guys a bright smile,
"Are you waiting for a drink, ladies?" he asked over his shoulder. "Yes, but it's okay. Take your time," Mae smiled. "We can just make you guys one if you'd like. Right Luke?" the boy nudged his friend's shoulder, making the taller boy look up and turn around to look at you. "Yeah of course," Luke grinned, looking directly at you, "What would you like sunshine?" "Surprise me," you shrugged, trying to ignore the faint blush on your cheeks. "Same," Mae nodded at the brown boy, trying to hide her growing smirk as she glanced at me.
