Spoilers for Trials Of Apollo

"No! Meg, don't do that!" I yelled, chasing after her.
Meg just giggled in reply and continued her cartwheeling across Manhattan intersections. I frowned "you're going to get yourself killed!" I continued yelling.
She ignored my obvious concern and, to probably prove a point, she froze in the middle of the street, blew me a raspberry, and returned to her activity.
I groaned, picking up my pace. "You do what I say Meg! I'm older than you!" I shouted irritatedly.
"Only by a year!" she said. "Still I'm fifteen. You should listen to me!" I said, running almost next to her "Yeah, and I'm fourteen. So what?" She asked as she stopped short, which made me stop. Bumping into her.
"I don't want you to get hurt" I told her quietly. She rolled her eyes and started running before I could grab her. That girl seriously got some energy. I don't even know what I see in her.
"You're not my mother, you're my girlfriend/boyfriend. Don't worry about me!" Meg laughed.
My nose twitched and my eyebrows furrowed together. "MEG!" I finally snapped "GET THE HELL BACK HERE!" She was heading towards the park.
And, surprisingly not, she didn't stop. She just laughed out loud. A growl escaped the back of my throat as I chased after her.
After a little I finally catch up to her. I tried grabbing her but when I did, we both toppled over, rolling onto the grass.
Be both were in fit's of laughter. I held her down. Luckily, nobody was here, or we'd look like idiots.
I kissed her cheek as we calmed down "I love you" I muttered, catching my breath. She giggled "I love you too Y/N" she said, muttering as well.
"Just don't do that again...Please" I said. She frowned "why not?" she asked. "Because I don't want to lose you again" I said quietly.
(flashback)
"Meg!" I shouted. "Where the hell are you?" I yelled. But that was no use. She couldn't hear me. Wherever she was.
There was a forest fire. A big one. And I was in the process of trying to find Meg. She was last saw going into the forest. I don't know how the fire started, all I knew is, the smoke burned my lungs and I could hardly breathe as my skin threatened to peel off from the flames.
I wanted to cry, but the heat was so intense, it made any tears that leaked from my eyes sizzle up. The dense trees and flames made it hard to see.
People told me not to come in here. But I didn't listen, I needed to find my best friend. And I didn't care if I died in the process.
I guess like father, like daughter. My father. If you haven't guessed it yet, my father is Apollo, god of too many things to list.
My father had told me about Meg, when he was turned mortal, I still didn't know I was a demigod. I came to camp about a year after he became a god again and he told me about Meg.
And now she's my best friend. Apollo told me about him setting off to save her from the Myrmeke and just as my father was. I was going to find her. No matter what.
I felt light-headed, my vision blurred, but I kept going, sucking in the toxic air. I remember when my dad was trying to find her—he sang. But it was went he was in danger, which I was in, but I was very self-conscious with my voice.
But between saving my friend and shying away because of my voice, I chose helping my friend. I started singing, my saddened voice bouncing off the trees, making a echo in the surrounding area.
My voice cried out in pain. For a fourteen year old, I've seen a lot of things, so my voice had a strong vive of misery and pain.
I sang myself hoarse. I got no sign of her. I felt like breaking down, crying, but I physically couldn't. Besides, I couldn't give up. But maybe using my dad's tactic wasn't the case—or what if she's dead I thought, but I quickly got rid of that idea. She couldn't be dead. She was a strong girl.
I collapsed on the ground. I was going to die. I couldn't take the flames. I hated giving up, but at least, we'd both be in Elysium together.
My body shivered and I held my eyes shut tightly. Then I heard cussing in the distance. And then a shriek. I knew that voice from a mile away. It was Meg.
I shot up. Well the best I could. My legs wobbled like jello, and I felt half liquified. But I ran, well, sped walked.
Then I saw her "MEG!" I yelled. My voice was rough but I yelled anyway. Meg looked my way "Y—" then she shrieked as a wall of flame consumed her. And I saw her pass out. Then I shrieked, and did the stupidest thing, I ran into the flame.
My body burned and I felt like my skin was peeling off. It was agony. I knew I must've had three degree burns. Then I felt relief.
I glanced around. I had a golden protection bubble around me. I silently thanked Apollo as I ran to Meg and the bubble disappeared.
I held her up "Meg! Meg! Meg, please, please wake up!" I said hugging her. Then a light shined around Meg and she groaned.
Her glasses were broken and her clothing were ripped. But she still looked pretty. At least in my opinion.
I gasped "you're awake!" I said. She blinked heavy and looked at me. "Y/N..." she muttered "yeah...yeah it's me" I said softly, "you...you look horrible" she muttered. Glad to know where both our perspectives stand.
I shrugged "not important, let's get you out of here. I need to get you back to Camp-Half-Blood, before I lose you again" I said the last part quietly.
She smiled at me "I don't want to lose you either" she told me, rubbing the back of her neck. I chuckled and blushed slightly "yeah...Let's go" I said. She nodded and kissed my cheek before running off in a newly created hole in the wall of fire.
I had a blush, more noticeable on my face. But I shook it off as I yelled "wait for me!" and I chased after her, the best I could, before tripping heroically, falling on my face.
Meg stopped short and turned around to help me up "come on, you're in worst condition than I am in, we got to get you back." I'll admit it. I may of cried, if I could.
I grinned and kissed her cheek back and grabbed her arm "let's go" I told her as we ran off.
(end flash back)
Meg smiled and touched my face "you, you still got some burns" she told me, then kissed my cheek "isn't a kiss suppose to make the boo, boo, better?" she asked softly. I nodded "it does
I kissed her cheek and grabbed her arm "let's go" I told her, just like at the fire. She chuckled and nodded, fixing her glasses that were knocked askew, "let's go" she agreed as, just like at the fire, hand in hand, we ran off.
