Hidden Wishes

Nineteen

Hunter stood in the center of the gym with his eyes closed. He had his band on this time and he had to try. He pictured how the hum felt and what it felt like as it spread through his body. The hum began in his hands and he felt it spread through his body.
" Good now stop letting it move." He heard Rhage say.
He took a deep breath and put a stop on it. Then he waited a few moments and started feeling it receed.
" Good, good. That's great. Now I believe you may be ready for the field. For one last test." Rhage said as he opened his eyes. " Now take those electrodes off and I'll give them to Jane."
He did as he was told. "Do you think that I could go into the field today?"
"I would have to speak with Wrath and your father. I'll let you know."
"Are they back yet? They left hours ago?"
"Not that I know of. But they will be back. I'm sure it's for a good reason."
Hunter nodded and toweled off his face. He headed toward the stairs and up to the mansion. He was hungry and exhausted. He wanted a shower and he wanted to call Phear. Even though he had been busy all night he still liked knowing he would get to see him. They turned a corner last night and he wanted to be sure it wasn't his imagination. He headed to his room but stopped outside the room Phear used. It was empty. He continued to his room and grabbed his phone. He dialed Phear and waited.
Ring. Ring. Ring.
"Hunter? Is everything alright?" Phear asked concerned.
"I was wondering what your doing? I've been training and hoped to see you." He said softly.
"I am out still. Your father and I will be home soon."
"Oh... Ok."
Hunter hung up. Not wanting Phear to know how hurt he was. Maybe the corner they turned wasn't there for Phear. Maybe he needed a push. He showered and headed to see Phears father. Rehevenge was visiting with the king and he waited outside for him.
"Hunter? Everything alright?" Rehevenge.
"Can... Can I talk with you alone?" Hunter asked him nervously.
"Of course. Let's go into the library."
Hunter followed him into the library and they sat near the open window.
"What can I do for you?" asked Rehevenge as they settled in.
"I wanted to ask you something about Phear." Hunter informed him. "I want to mate your son. I want to ask him soon. I want your blessing. If you will give it to me."

Phear looked at the ring he had chosen one last time before they reached the mansion. Black ring gold leaf crosses along the middle and blue sapphires in the middle of each cross. He pictured Hunter wearing it. He was happy.
" He will like it. I'm sure." Vishous said as they pulled into the mansion long drive, " When will you ask him?"
"Not sure. I want it to be perfect. Probably soon." Phear said as they parked and got out.
"Make it soon. I can picture the look on his face now."
"I need to go see him. He called me while we were out."
They went inside and he headed straight to his room. He stashed the ring in his safe. He changed into his lounge clothes and headed to see Hunter. He was shocked that when he reached his room Hunter wasn't there. Dawn was fast approaching. Where was he? He went through the mansion and gym and didn't find him. He ran into Rhage.
" Have you seen Hunter?" He asked him.
"What's with you guys? Do neither of you talk to the other?" Rhage asked him. "He left for the sympath camp about an hour ago. He said he would be back tomorrow in time for..."
"In time for what? What did he go to the camp for?"
"I don't know. All I know is he said he would be back tomorrow."
Phear didn't like not knowing what was going on. He hated that Hunter hadn't called him. He left Rhage and headed to his room. He called Hunter on his way.
"Hello?" Hunter said, "Phear?"
"Yeah. Why are you at the camp?" He asked Hunter.
"I came to talk with your father about something. Don't worry I'll be back tomorrow right after sunset."
"I...I had hoped to see you."
"You could have stayed home tonight. But don't worry. I... I love you."
Phear gasped. "I... Yeah you too."
