Twenty One

Hunter was nervous. First meal was fast approaching and everyone was gathering into the hall. He knew Phear was already down there, he could hear his voice. He grabbed his ring and tucked it into his pocket. He took a deep breath and walked slowly from his room to the dining room. It was so full. With people he hadn't had a chance to meet yet. He suddenly began to have second thoughts. But then Ehlena came out with plates of the first course. He took his seat but didn't eat anything. His stomach was in knots.
"What's wrong with you?" Phear whispered in his ear.
"Not feeling too well today." He muttered in response.
"Should I call Jane over here?"
Hunter shook his head and forced himself to take a few bites. He didn't need to have medical attention before he proposed to Phear. Once the first course was finished, the second came. Phear looked rather confused. This wasn't what was normally served at first meal but Hunter wanted to make a lasting impression on his mind. He had to make him say yes. He had to. After the second course came dessert and Hunter waited while Phear ate. He carefully removed his band from his arm and lay it between their plates.
Phear saw it, "Hunter, What? No. Put it back on."
He pushed his chair back and stood pulling Phear up with him.
"What are you doing?" Phear demanded as Hunter nodded to Rehevenge.
He dropped to one knee and grabbed Phears hands.
"I took that band off to show you I'm not lying when I say I love you. I took it off to show you u am willing to endure all the emotions from this room for you. I took it off so you could know how sincere I am." He said with confidence, "I asked the king for permission to change the menu. I asked your parents for help. It was my idea for everyone to be here. I don't want our love a secret. I want it to be pure and shout it to the world. I want to do that with you by my side. I want you. For the rest of our existence." He pulled the ring out, "Phear, will you please do me the honor of becoming my mate? Presented to the Scribe Virgin. In front of everyone here?"
Lots of emotions rushed over him. Making him dizzy. He didn't mind. He only cared about how Phear felt. A sudden wave of dismay came at him from Phear. Dismay? Didn't he love him? As he knelt there on the floor, he suddenly felt like he was being judged. After a few minutes without an answer he stood, and left the room. He was crushed. His body began to hum. He needed a fight or a release. He walked to the garage and paced. He needed to kill something.

The electrical charge in the air told him that Hunter was upset. His son needed him. He walked to the garage and motioned to his SUV.
"Get in. We will go out into the field tonight. You need it." He told his son.
"Why? Why doesn't he want me?" Hunter asked him in a shaky voice.
" He loves you. You just shocked his system."
"It wasn't shock I felt back there. It was dismay. He doesn't want me. That's fine. I'm sure I will find someone else."
Vishous didn't like the sound of that. Hunter had no clue what Phear had planned. Hunters proposal threw a wrench in Phears plan to propose the next day. He didn't want to leave his son alone on a day like this. The king told him to take him into the field. He handed him his band.
" Put this on." Vishous ordered Hunter, " You won't want to feel what those fuckers feel when they die."
"Why? Its no more than what I deserve." Hunter said softly, "I took that band off for reasons and those reasons are real. I am not putting that thing back on. At least not until I have this... This power under control."
He parked the car and they got out. She smell of Lesser made him aware that Hunter was already on the move. The electrical current caught their enemies off guard and before he knew it Hunter we shocking them with his powers. He screamed out as if in pain. The shock wave didn't end. It kept going until the bastards were turned to ash. Hunters body was still like a live wire.
Vishous whispered "I am in for a hell of a night."

Well that was an interesting turn if events. Totally different than what I had originally planned. But still epic in my eyes.

Its almost that time where this book draws to a close. One or two more chapters and this book will be over. So I do hope you all enjoyed this chapter.
