Hidden Wishes

Seventeen

Jane couldn't believe her ears.
" You don't understand me. I've been tested, examined, and tested some more. All since my power came to light. Something that never showed until I came here. I was put into the field last night. It was supposed to be clean. Supposed to be clear if lessers. What did we find? Lessers. My power went out of control. I hated every minute of it. It felt wrong. It was painful. I felt like I was being ripped into a thousand pieces. Did anyone take into account how this made me feel? How the testing makes me feel? How being a new weapon in this so called war makes me feel? How about how being cooped up in a hospital room makes me feel? How not being in control makes me feel? How about finding out my biological father really existed and I found him? No one took into account how I feel. Not one person. Forgive me for not wanting to be subject to more tests. Forgive me for wanting the freedom you have." Hunters voice came to her.
She hadn't realized he felt that way. She never wanted to make anyone feel that way. The door to his room opened and she pretended to work. Phear walked past her looking drained. She needed to decide what to do. Manny had brought her the test results from his stress test and it looked good. His endurance was great. Nothing out of control. Maybe a little more endurance than the brothers had. She wanted to run a test on him when his power was active and when he was using it. But since his speech she didn't want to approach it. She put the results in his chart and walked to his room. She knocked and entered.
"Your results looked good. Nothing out of the ordinary. Your endurance is amazing. I will let you go for now but you have to make me a promise." She said looking at him, "The next time they take you into the field. I want you to come here. I want to outfit you with some wireless electrodes. Just to see what your body does go through. As well as when you feel the hum you call me."
"When will the testing end?" He asked her.
'I am trying to learn so I can help you be comfortable during the time its active. As soon as I have enough information I promise to stop the testing."
"Fine but I'll come when I please. Not every time either."
He walked past her and she just stood there. How had things gotten out of hand? She wasn't sure what was happening. She walked from the room and nodded to Ehlena to clean the room. She went to her computer and logged their findings into her computer file on Hunter.

Hunter walked through the mansion toward the stairs. He needed to talk to Phear. He wanted to tell him he was sorry. He wanted to explain everything in his head to him. When he reached the room that Phear used he knocked and entered. Phear was in the bed.
He looked up at Hunter, "Care to take another dig at me?" Without replying Hunter removed his band. " Hunter, what are you doing? Put that back on."
Uneasiness rushed over Hunter. He fell to his knees. Concern came next followed by apprehension. Phear moved beside him.
"Put it back on." Phear demanded. "This isn't how you should handle this."
"I want you to know that I am sincere. I want you to believe me." Hunter ground out. "I didn't mean to hurt you. I just let the words flow out of me. I wanted to just get it out. Things have been hard. All the testing." A wave of concern and worry rushed over him making him fall forward. "Being here with this power is hard. I just want to be happy with you. Spend time with you. Not testing or being examined. I just want to be able to handle myself without fuss." He began to feel weak as more and more emotions rushed over him.
"I can be with you. Even if you are being tested. I will be with you."
Hunter took a shaky breath, " You say that now. What if I hurt you? What if I hurt someone on our side? What if I can't kill the lessers with it? What if I am not what they want me to be? Will you still be there? Or will you leave me like my mother did?"
He forced himself to look into Phears eyes. Hex felt pain and confusion rush over him. Phear was a mass of emotions. He closed his eyes andbremaoned silent as wave after wave rushed over him taking all his energy to stay on his knees. All of a sudden the emotions stopped and he felt relieved. He looked at his arm and saw that his band was back on.
"I will be by your side always. That's what mates do. Even if it's not wanted." Phear said moving closer to Hunter.
Their lips met and Hunter felt the hum begin. He ignored it and continued kissing Phear.
