Hunter woke with a start. He felt normal. No weakness in his body, not even the normal slight weakness he felt ever. He felt so much better. He looked around. He was in the clinic and it confused him. Out of the corner of his eye he saw Phear asleep. Why was he here? What had happened? He sat up slowly waiting for some kind of effect. Nothing came. Not a slight bit of anything. He moved to stand but saw Phear wake up.
"What are you doing?" Phear demanded coming to his side.
"I am fine. Nothing is wrong." He told Phear still trying to get up.
Phear pushed him back down, "Don't you move. Jane still needs to see you. Do you remember last night?"
He thought about it, "Not much. I remember the first attack on the lessers. I shocked them making them easy targets for the brothers. After that nothing. Why?"
Phear just stares, " You don't remember feeding?"
"Yeah before the trial run."
"No, after in the car."
"No. Should I?"
"Probably, you fed from me."
Hunter just stared. He fed from Phear? Why did he do that? Why didn't he remember? How come there wasn't any effects on his body? He was confused. What the hell happened? He door opened and Jane came in.
"Good your awake. I need to run a blood test to see how the feeding from last night effected it. How do you feel?" She asked while gathering supplies.
"Fine. No weakness. Nothing. Not even the hum." He told her.
She spun around, "Really? I guess I need to run more than just that one test." She turned back to her task, "Things just became interesting."

Vishous Sat at his desk and waited for news. Jane had gone to check on Hunter and had yet to send word. He knew if he traveled there now and something was wrong, he couldn't know what he would do. His phone chimed.
"Jane." he sighed into the phone, " How is he?"
"Perfect. No weakness, feeling fine. No ill effects. Minor memory loss. Blood looks perfect. Stronger even than the other samples I have. I don't know why, but the blood he consumed from Phear seems to be agreeing with him." She said, "He's feeling great. Energetic even. Ready to leave."
"Have you tested his endurance? That may be effected." He asked her.
"That's next on the list. But I can't man the clinic and do his test. That's why I am calling. Can you run his test?"
"I'll be there within the hour. I'm at the training center."
"Don't leave. Manny is here. I'll ask him. Stay. The center needs you."
"He's my son."
"I know."
"I love you."
"I love you too."
He hung up and put his head on his hands. What the hell was happening? Things were changing? He didn't like change. Hated it even. He was worked up. Agitated, worried, stressed, and eager for a fight. Thank the Virgin Scribe he was on rotation again. He needed a fight.

Phear watched as Hunter ran on the treadmill. An endurance test Jane had ordered. She also wanted a stress test. The blood work came back fine. Phear was worried. What could he be going through? Why is he not having ill effects from feeding from him. Why didn't he feel weak? Phear was worried for his mate. Jane hadn't filled him in on anything. Hunter seemed to like the feeling. He just wanted answers. Hunter had been running for fifteen minutes. Manny called the test off and Hunter slowed to a walk.
"How did I do?" Hunter asked as he stepped off.
"From what I see, you could have kept going. But that was long enough. Jane will need to review the results.I'll show you back to your room and she will see you shortly." Manny said leading them from the gym.
"Wait, I still can't leave?" Hunter demanded, "Ive been here all day. I want to get out of here."
"I understand that. I can't make that decision. Jane has to as she's your primary doctor right now." Manny told him before he left them alone in their room.
Hunter was angry. He had done that ridiculous test for them. Had let them take blood. Waited around for those results. Only to find out he still wasn't able to leave. That irritated him. How could he still need medical testing to prove he was okay? He didn't. He felt fine. Better than fine. He felt amazing. Better than he had since his transition. No one understood that. No one seemed to care.
"Hunter, look. Jane is confused right now. No one has ever attempted to feed from the same sex before. Blaylock and Quinn haven't tried it either. There is nothing that supports how you are feeling. She wants to be sure that there will be no sudden effects. She wants to understand just as much as I do." Phear told him.
Hunter looked at him, " You don't understand me. I've been tested, examined, and tested some more. All since my power came to light. Something that never showed until I came here. I was put into the field last night. It was supposed to be clean. Supposed to be clear if lessers. What did we find? Lessers. My power went out of control. I hated every minute of it. It felt wrong. It was painful. I felt like I was being ripped into a thousand pieces. Did anyone take into account how this made me feel? How the testing makes me feel? How being a new weapon in this so called war makes me feel? How about how being cooped up in a hospital room makes me feel? How not being in control makes me feel? How about finding out my biological father really existed and I found him? No one took into account how I feel. Not one person. Forgive me for not wanting to be subject to more tests. Forgive me for wanting the freedom you have."
Hunter couldn't help himself. It needed to come out.
